Yao is no Tim Duncan, he doesn't have the speed or the power; whether he can make up for it with his height, shooting touch, and basketball smarts remains to be seen. Duncan is a complete player, though I do think that Yao will become a player of this caliber, I don't delude myself into thinking that he will be better.

Yao is no Joe Barry Carrol either, because he has the drive and work ethic to improve. So my question for you guys is. How much upside do you think he has? What do you think his averages during the apex of his career will be?

Anyway I put in my vote for B, although C is prolly more realistic. Hope Yao can be a beast like Moses Malone!

Funny, by reading this board, I swear he was already the greatest center of all time...

Where do you get that? There's a ton of Yao dismissers, most people just think better of him because he's so friendly.

You were the one that voted for Chamberlain now were you A-Train? ;)

Wow two people have voted for the wilt? We're not talking 1 game here! Season average. I really don't think anyone is ever going to do that again. Wilt averaged like 50-40 one season... haha but that was a different era, unless there's some rule changes then 30-20-5 for Yao seems a little far fetched.

I think A-Train had this impression cuz in all your options (except the last one), you used the best centers'a names in the league's history. So when I read it, the first reaction was that you implied Yao would be either Chamberlain, or Moses Malone, or Jabbar. Come on man, if you are serious for a vote, please list some other names in your options. If you only list names in hall of fame, how could someone disagree you vote????

if yao ends up averaging anything less than 25 pts 12 reb 2blks/gm i think many people on this board, including me, would consider him a disapointment considering his skill and size.

I mean, this is like you ask us to estimate how successful a professor would be in his career. However, in your options, you only list Norbel Prize Winners' names. How could I vote if I don't think that professor would so great and I estimate that he would just be a so-so professor? You can not exclue all the other options and just let me chose a Norbel Prize Winner's name.

Well I thought a poll would provide more information content.

I don't get the norton reference.

    Sowhat,

He listed Yao (current Yao i.e.) as one of the options and Yao is not a HOF, so what's your point of going on and on with that Nobel price winner nonsense?

I could have totally taken off the names and just put numbers there. Or I could have come up with some in betweens like Rik Smits or David Robinson. But I felt those comparisons were good and have been used by a lot of people. Note also, I didn't put the best year of any of the players. I just put the names and years so people could better associate with the level of play. I put kareem at a time when he was declining and noted that, I'm not asking you to compare Yao to Kareem in his prime. Nor am I asking you to struggle so much with your vote.

I'm glad you were able to increase your post count though. Way to go.

yipeyangzheo, what are you talking about...information content? a poll is not more information content. add your opinion to the thread below you - a pretty good one at that. Have a little consideration for the thread starter and the people who are discussing this same exact thing in the thread below you. Its ok to chime with your opinion in another similar thread, look man, you will still be noticed.
