In the Bucks game, the Rockets were constantly posting up Artest and sometimes McGrady, which made me think how good are they actually? Artest seems to be good at drawing the fouls, but when the refs swallow their whistles he never seems to be able to finish. And Mcgrady....well given his current ailments with his knee and his performances over the last 3 games isn't doing very well anywhere scoring-wise.
It depends on who is guarding them. TMac actually is great there, but it is bad for his back to be posting up so much. Ron is great against smaller guards, but is unorthodox and not a great passer when doubled. IMO, our best post options are still Yao, followed by Scola... DD
t-mac: great post up player if healthy. Most guys guarding him are other guards, who usually give up 3-4 inches in height against t-mac. So in the post, t-mac can just shoot over them, or back them down and hook over them. If double team comes, t-mac is tall enough to see the open men and pass out the double team. So it's a terrific option. artest: he has the body of a good post up player. But to be honest, i am not too impressed with his moves. His most reliable move seems to be that fade-away shot once in the paint. His hook shots and other moves so far are pretty low-percentage. He is also a bit slow to dribble past or spin on the defender.
T-Mac = Great post game when healthy. Hes amazing and passing when hes in the post. Has a great skillset and has great moves IF posted up.
