I work in a pretty old building that has narrow hallways, so it seems that I'm always getting stuck behind some fat chick that waddles along or just somebody that likes to walk slowly for some reason. It happens with my wife when we're walking out of the grocery store back to the truck. I'm always telling her too hurry up. The absolute WORST is when I'm stuck behind a group of people just meandering along. I try to walk around them, and they ALWAYS seem to move along with me, like they subconsciously (sp?) are trying to piss me off by blocking the entire hallway. It's almost as annoying as being stuck behind somebody on the freeway. Maybe I just walk too fast, or does the rest of the world walk too slow? ...sorry, I guess I'm just having a Seinfeld moment...
I really hate it when I bounce a check at the grocery store and they stick it up on the register for all my neighbors to see .....................
i'm the same way... I walk fast too. plus i walk like i drive which is aggressive. i'm short too, 5'4", and i think i walk fast to compensate for my short legs. i'm usually trying to catch up to other people.
I walk very fast. It's always been a problem with my significant other, as she doesn't have the long legs I do, and walks at a much slower pace. (I'm not tall, but have long legs... go figure!) We spent 4 months in Europe several years ago, pre-kids, and it almost drove me crazy! I feel your pain, A-Train.
I have this problem with my young girls... seems like I am always trying to tell them to hurry... EVERYBODY ELSE walks slower than you and me, A-Train. By the way, I have pictures of the last party you did in my neighborhood: When do you want them?
Well, people walk fast in NY because they always think that somebody is about to mug them from behind. I guess I just walk fast for the hell of it...
I think sidewalks or any other walkways should be like freeways, if you're going to walk slow stay to the right. What pisses me off the most is on moving walkways, people just STOP. It seems like nothing short of a pissed off bull charging at them is going to make these people move
I walk fast and am not a fan of slow walkers. My wife who is only 5'2" walks fast too and does a pretty good job of keeping up with me. And I hate those meandering group walkers that seem like they have no direction or purpose (think the mall). Funny story my wife told me, when she was in college she was on a walk way and there was a group of sorority girls meadering along taking up the entire path as a group, my wife gets closer and closer and they dont move down to single file (I guess expecting my wife to just go on the grass or something) well, my wife just kept on walking and barreled into one of them. LOL I love that story! Have a sense of purpose, Point A to point B and recognize that there is more people around you then just yourself!
Hmmm, I was just thinking the same thing. "The world went and got itself in a big damn hurry." ~ Brooks
I'm a slow walker. I don't know why, I guess I'm just never in a hurry. But I always get self conscious when people start passing me by.
Some people want to enjoy the journey. Some people don't enjoy it at all and just want to reach their destination as quickly as possible. The slow people can take their time, but they need to get out of the way of the fast people.
Well, maybe you walk around in circles all day, but a lot of us actually set goals, work to achieve them, and endeavor to accomplish things in life. If you want to chase your tail, that's fine with me. Like I said - get the hell out of my way.
Funny that you bring it up, A. This is probably my #1 pet peeve. It's funny how in a hallway when you can't pass, and someone turns in front of you, but you don't slow down, they get nervous as you close the distance, like you are stalking them, even though they cut you off. The 'packs' of people who hog the hallway (women are more prone to this) bug the hell out of me too. I tend to close the distance with them as well and eventually one of them will get out of the way. Another thing that falls into this category is the 'doorway talkers'; people who decide to block a doorway while having a conversation, then give you a dirty look when you want to go through. Sometimes I ask them if they are the bouncer and need to see my ID before I can enter. Not suprisingly, they don't get it. It's funny how you mention driving as well, because I realized a long time ago that most people drive like they walk, and vice-a-versa. I wish that people would just stick to the right side of the road when they want to cruise. Bottom line: most people are just inconsiderate.
The constant chasing of our never ending desires is the chasing of the tail. We can only find fulfillment in the present moment by not being attached to our fleeting desires. You are actually in my way.
