I'm changing residence, and my time/distance from/to work will be 30 min/20 miles. Currently, it's 5 min/3 miles.
I work downtown and live inner-loop. It takes me about 20 minutes to get to work in traffic. My record is 8 minutes, but I was driving like a maniac, and I got lucky with green traffic lights. Google has it at 7.8 miles.
After years of driving over an hour each way, it feels good to be able to choose option #1. It takes me about 8-10 minutes to go from my driveway to the parking lot at my office.
I am in the 10-15 min area depending on traffic. We should be moving our office closer to my house, so I will be in the 5 min zone.
Live near Oak Forest, work near Greenspoint. 20 minutes, one way. The good thing is that I go opposite traffic to and from work. Plus I get off at 4:15 so I can beat a lot of the go home traffic.
~14 miles-driveway to parking garage 20-25 minutesm, mostly depending on if the lights in downtown are timed right
It takes me up to 3 seconds to walk from my kitchen to my office. If the kid traffic is really bad, it might take me 8 seconds.
Just 5 minutes of driving for me, though I have to remember to add in 3 more minutes for gathering my stuff and hauling it upstairs to my office. One advantage of living in a small town. MadMax - no offense, but seems like you might as well walk the 6 blocks... then you wouldn't have to hunt for spaces in the parking garage... but I don't know your situation.
