Ok, here it is: We do a sign and trade with the kings. We give Cato, the Wizard, and C-Los in return for Webber. With the extra money we have, we sign Antonio Davis for about 6 million, resign shandon and Mo Taylor. Olajuwon resigns for the 4.5 mil exception. Our lineup would be:
    C - Dream/Antonio Davis/Collier
    PF - Webber/Mo/KT
    SF - Shandon/Bullard/Langhi
SG - Mobley/Draft pick (or moochie at point and stevie can play the 2.)
    PG - Franchise/Moochie

Actually, Antonio Davis will be more expensive, about 8 million.

Which by the way Webber will be asking for, so there will not be any extra money left over.

There will be lots of money left over, remember that we are getting rid of Cato and Walts contracts. We would be able to sign Davis for 8, Mo for 6, and shandon for 5.

Millenium-Actually, the Rockets would be able to, if Sac would actually agree to that sign and trade... Sac can't offer Webber that much more than the Rocks can... Los/Cato/Wiz are about 11-12 mill combined... Webber will get around that much money... So, we still have 12 mill or so to spend on other players...

It would work, but it will never happen... Davis isn't coming here to be Dream's caddie, and Mo won't re-sign to be Webber's cheerleader...

Is rezdawg there? No, who is this? Rudy T. Rudy? Yeah, Tell rezdawg I need him--that's the best lineup I've seen in years. If he can make it happen, I will be the president of his FAN CLUB! Ok Rudy.

Those of you who see us acquiring Webber and re-signing Mo, what do you see as Mo's role on the team?

Mo will be back-up Power forward and we could go big and put him at the three. He's got the range and shooting touch to play that position. Plus, if he want to win a championship, resigning with the rocks will be the smart thing to do.

Well I don't see us resigning Mo, if we get Webber, but if it did happen, I think he has to come off the bench to spell webber and possibly Dream.

Mo is money in the bank at the beginning of games. Why should he be coming off the bench? I just don't see a player as talented as he is being a backup.

I agree there is no way Mo returns if we do get Webber...that is if Mo is not involved in a sign and trade. And Antonio Davis IMO will likely want more than $8mil...he was an all-star this year by the way even if he does play in the East. I'm thinking he might be able to get $9-11 mil out of somebody. Lets say we do a sign and trade involving Shandon, Los, Walt, and Cato for Webber...not sure if the salaries match but they will somehow be evened out. Here is our lineup with that trade and being able to sign Dream for a big paycut:

    Dream/RookC
    Webber/KT
    Rook or FA SF/ Langhi
    Cuttino/ Rook or FA SG
    Francis/ Mooch

This is not dreamcasting, it is realistic. Lets say we cannot get Webber, we are still in good shape w/ the draft and other FAs:

    Dream/ FA or Rook
    Mo/KT
    Shandon/Rook or FA/Walt,Langhi
    Cat/ Rook or FA
    Steve/Mooch

I am assuming we use our top pick on a C unless we are able to sign Davis. 2nd pick I would take best available out of SG/SF, and whatever is leftover for any other picks. If we do not sign Dream back, there is a possibility we sign Davis and get a C in the draft. Its a little early to be going to deep into this but it's nice to know we have plenty of options if any deal with CWebb falls through.

Since we will be under the cap, we won't have a mid level exception next year. So, you won't have that exception to use on Hakeem.

So what are you saying dogbelly, would you rather play him out of his natural postion or are you going to make webber sit? I don't see how you can sit Hakeem or Webber and playing him at the SF position is a defense liablity. Another thing to consider, how many scorers do you want on the floor at the same time?

Good point KBM. Having Webber and an unhappy Mo Taylor would hurt the chemistry of the team. Our whole starting five would want to have large roles in the offense, and 3 scorers on the court at once is the max IMO.

If we sign Webber straight up, Mo will likely go home to Detroit. C-Webb won't go there. The Pistons have lots of $$$ this off-season. Might as well bring Mo home. Of course, Ratliff can opt out and also sign there. In any case, if we trade Cato/Walt/Los for Webber, we'll need a real center and Hakeem should be that individual. We would have the $$$ in that case. But if we sign C-Webb straight up, the center position will likely consist of Cato/Los.

My point was that we should not keep Mo if we have Webber.

If Mo is happy with going back to Detroit, then I am fine with that. But, I would still love to have him here because for one thing I like his game and also I we have enough money to get him. I dont think he should expect to get much more than 5-6. I just dont see why it would be such a problem to get Mo back if we can, even though he would only get about 25 min. a game.

What if Webber starts at C and Mo stays at PF.

    PG - Francis
    SG - Mobley
    SF - Anderson
    PF - Taylor
    C - Webber
