After reading the title, most of you are proabably thinking 'um, i dont know, i just do' But what i mean is.... i find it really hard to get out of bed in the mornings. Im talking hitting the snooze buttons a ridiculous amount of times. and its not like i need to get out of bed any earlier than say 730am-830am. i just want to know if anybody have any tips or secrets hat they use to get out of bed.... because im sure im not the only one!. just to clear up and questions that may be asked..... i usually get to bed from anywhere between 11 - 12.
If you have to wake up, then you'll wake up. I remember not being able to get out of bed until 10am. Then I started working. All of a sudden, I'm waking up at 6am. Within a couple of days, I'm used to it. Maybe you should schedule something early in the morning that you have to wake up to. Class? Sports? Read? Work out?
Can't help, I'm the same way. 8:40...snooze button. 8:46...snooze button. 8:52...snooze button. 8:58...snooze button. 9:04...snooze button. 9:10...snooze button. 9:16...holy hell I'm gonna be late for class, better get up.
I have trouble getting up and usually build in enough time to reset the alarm a couple of times. When I have to get up, I do, but here's the weird part: I'm usually not entirely awake. I don't have much energy. I can get something to drink, use the computer, post to the bbs, and do schoolwork fine. Once I have the energy, I can drive and can play the piano (though not quite as well as later in the day). The problem is: I can barely talk. My eyes are scrunched up and I just feel like going back to bed. This often continues through much of the morning. I drink coffee, etc., but it may not kick in for a while. Does anyone else have this problem? What can be done? (other than maybe not staying up until... say... now )
Agreed with MartianMan - I thought that was what you did when you needed something to help you go to sleep.
Alarm goes off, I get right outa bed. Quite simple, although I wake up a minute before the alarm goes off on most mornings...not sure why this happens. If I even play with the snooze button I'll sleep right through it. Get up, take the shower, drink the coffee, get out of grumpy mood around 11am.
I snooze once. But I also set my alarm clock about a snooze early. So I wake up when I'm supposed to but I FEEL like I got a little extra in. And no, it doesn't work. I wish I were still asleep right now!
Move your alarm clock so you actually have to walk across the room to turn it off. Turning up the volume also could work.
How can all of you be up at 3:00 AM, and complain about not being able to getting up in the morning???
You sound like me, in this sense. I am not a morning person. It takes me awhile to get going. When I have to use my brain early, I'm f***ed. Also, I have problems falling to sleep sometimes. I have been better about not taking something to help me fall asleep, but I'm sure sleep-aid thingies just add to the grogginess. Wish I could help. I'm actually waiting to see if someone posts the Magic Cure for The Morning Blahs.
Good times. Maybe try playing the "No, you smell mine!" morning breath game. That'll knock your brain into 1st gear and out of the bed real quick. I totally hate that game.
This time (and often), it was because someone else was using the computer when I wanted to. I often take a nap for a while and then get up and finish taking care of stuff like this. But, no matter what, I can't go to sleep that early. The only night in recent memory that I've had sleep trouble was when I went on a road trip with a friend who went to bed around 11:00. I found as much stuff to do as I could and then tried to go to bed shortly after midnight. It was about impossible. I can shift my pattern somewhat, but even if I do, I'll always be more awake than most people at night, and not so much in the morning.
I've never really had problems getting up simply because it was drilled into me as a kid that lying around in bed repeatedly slapping the snooze button was a sign of laziness. I never use the snooze button. I just get up and get moving when the alarm goes off. Of course my problem isn't getting up, it's going to sleep...
My wife bought one of those alarms that scare the holy bejesus out of me. When this thing goes off, I just about hit the ceiling screaming cardiac arrest.
My wife used to do this. A loud alarm clock on the other side of the room will pretty much force you to get up. She had the added benefit of a half-broken off switch, so you really had to work to make the thing shut up. Now, I just get up when the baby cries. That's often a couple minutes before my alarm goes off. I suspect my days of oversleeping are behind me.
I'm really light sensitive. As soon as our bedroom recieves a certain amount of sunlight I'm up, no matter how much I want to go back to sleep. We have really dark curtains and blinds we use on the weekend so I can crash a little longer. My wife can sleep through any alarm, I usually wake her up.
