Gave it a b. Definitely filled some defensive holes. Maybe a stretch with Jones when there were still some good DB's on the board. I think they were hoping McCauley would be there and he went 1 pick earlier. They did get a decent OG who was actually projected higher. Studdard could work out as well.

All in all...they filled holes and added depth which is what they needed to do.

Okoye and Williams will be a nightmare for opposing offensive lines.

In my mind I feel this draft was a solid B.

We addressed almost every single need and got a freakin' freakishly scary good kid on the DL...

However, since the Texans are so draft handicapped lately.. I give them an A on the basis of a curve.

    Overall talent:....B

    Picks considering what was available:....A

I am very excited about the freakmare, Okoye on the Defensive line...

I fully believe you must address 3 areas the most to turn things around from a bad year with little going right...O-line, D-line, and Quarterback....

I think we did well on 2 of the 3 when you look at acquisitions from the draft and not from the draft this off-season...

I think we did the right picks considering the talent.

to me, you can't grade this draft right now. I guess that's true of all drafts, however we reached for some talent here and how that plays out will really be the true barometer.

i.e. Jacoby Jones. with the amount of talent on the board and the receivers still available, we picked a project from a small school. If he is what they believe, then it's a great pick.

overall, I liked how they attacked team needs. We picked up a receiver, offensive tackle, guard, corner, safety (albeit a strong safety) a linebacker and a stud defensive tackle. As far as filling needs, this draft gets a B+. Depending on how it plays out, it could run the spectrum.

Remember we had a phantom second pick that we spent on What-His-Name, our new QB. On the strength of never ever having to hear/read Carr is the Anti-Christ again, I given this draft a A++.

BTW, swapping first round picks does not appear to have caused the Texans to miss the player they were targeting.

They were solid but I'm kind of under-whelmed for some reason. We seem to still have big holes in the secondary and at WR. Okoye seems to be a real good player but we already had a ton of resources tied up in the defensive line. Not to say it needed help as well, but I thought other parts of the team needed more immediate help.

For all the talk of getting more playmakers on the offense, did we do that this offseason?

But hey, for all I know, Jacoby Jones could be a great WR out of the gate and our secondary improves by leaps and bounds especially with the assumed great D-line play.

I'm not down on the picks, just not jumping up and down over them either for some reason.

Looks like a solid B -- if you add in extra credit for the offseason moves I would say A minus.

whoever gave it an F...learn your crap! some might complain we didn't address the O-Line with the first 2 picks but we got a steal from Okoye!

B+. And restricted to what you get with the picks you have, A+.

I don't know... Atlanta used our 2nd rounder to get Justin Blaylock a hoss Texas offensive lineman.

I hope this doesn't come back to bite us

that's why i wish it was a public poll. those votes are from the trolls.
i know it's a poll on the Texan's draft, but i view their trade with Atlanta should be considered. i feel that made it more than decent draft.

I gave it a B. But if Okoye can make this a reality

    I'd give it an A

Need depth at almost every position on the Texans so it'da been hard to mess this draft up. I wanted them to trade the 1st rounder for later extra picks (and avoid botching a high pick) but they're seemingly getting a decent prospect in Okoye. Though minor they did manage an extra 5th rounder in a trade...

I didnt care much for reaching for Jacoby Jones though I'm glad they addressed the position. And for some reason, I don't like the pick for the Stanford strong safety at all. It is though, another draft getting in the Kubiak and Ric Smith guys and away from the Casserly-Capers-Carr era. That alone is passing grade

    Overall - B minus

    Gave it a B.

Okoye is a great pick, especially at 10, IMHO. I know that it's frustrating when you have so many needs and you pick ANOTHER d-lineman, but we have to face the facts that two 1st rounders (Babin and Johnson) have not really panned out. The line needed an upgrade, and Okoye is definitely that

Could have maybe drafted a better WR, but I have only read things about Jones so no idea

Got a couple of O-lineman, one that should be good and one that is a projoect but apparently plays with a ton of heart

Got a couple of players to help out in the secondary

Pretty good, especially since we didn't have a second rounder

I'll copy and paste what I wrote on HPF...

#10 - Amobi Okoye - If staying in this spot was the best option, then Im all for taking this kid. Im happy with the selection and think that it will have a very positive impact on our defense.

#73 - Jacoby Jones - I was scratching my head all night after this pick. The more I learn about him, the more I like him, but Im just not too happy about this one. If we wanted to get our WR here, I would have preferred Jason Hill. However, I wanted to address our CB here, with either AJ Davis, Jonathan Wade, or Tanard Jackson.

#123 - Fred Bennet - I liked the fact that we traded down to this spot. Im a big fan of extra picks. When this pick came around, I was still looking to address S, OLB, and OT. Shaw and Gattis were on the board. Also, Koets was there as well. Im fine with going after a CB...however, knowing that Aundrae Allison was still on the board here had me a little ticked that we addressed WR in the manner in which we did.

#144 - Brandon Harrison - Again, sitting here, David Clowney and Aundrae Allison were still available. Gattis was sitting there. Shaw was sitting there. These are the players I wanted. I would have much preferred Gattis to Harrison.

#163 - Brandon Frye - Tim Shaw was here and was taken right after this pick. I was pissed.

#183 - Kasey Studdard - Had we not taken a safety earlier, Wendling was available. I know hindsight is 20/20, but I just feel like we reached for too many people. And Koets had lasted this long...I wanted him here.

#218 - Zach Diles - Otto lasted until the 7th. Its a shame.

Obviously, I dont know jack compared to the FO. I just go off of websites that mention strengths and weakness...combine numbers...your opinions, etc...However, just over the last 5 months, I just had a certain feeling with some of these players and its tough to watch the guys I want get passed over by the Texans and get selected by other teams.

Cherry picking, my ideal draft would have been:

    #10 - Amobi Okoye
    #73 - Jonathan Wade
    #123 - Aundrae Allison
    #144 - Josh Gattis
    #163 - Tim Shaw
    #183 - Adam Koets
    #218 - Mike Otto

My overall grade for the Texans this year: C

Man the texans have had some truly horrid drafts.

2002- C-, Carr, Pitts, not much else- pretty mediocre, give it a C but only because it was a weak year, given their draft position I'd give them a D or F in a normal year.

2003- B-, Andre Johnson, D.Davis and nothing else of much value.

    2004 - D, D Robinson, nothing else important

    2005 - D-/F, Travis Johnson - J. Mathis keeps it from being an F.

2006 - B (tentative - could go up or down depending on williams)

2007 - Right now I would give it about a B-, but draft grades are useless this early.
