I'm kind of on my own now, so I need cooking tips, bachelor style, i.e. no mess, minimal cleaning, etc. Oh, and quick and healthy is a must. I already know how to cook ramen noodles, but I'm starting to gain weight. So, healthy and fast.

My brother says I can cook multiple chicken breasts in the oven with aluminum foil. Season it with chicken marinade from the store or whatever. Any other quick, neat, healthy ideas?

When in dieting mode, my standard meal is a grilled chicken breast(George Foreman) and can of collard greens (stovetop). Plain, but cheap and quick (ten minutes).

You can get those big frozen bags of chicken breasts at SAMS or wherever. You can then make chicken tacos, oven bbq chicken, chicken sandwiches, chicken popsicles....

Don't forget about the fermented chicken juice. Steinbrenner swears by it.

I was gonna mention the Foreman also. The vegetable meals in a bag at the grocery store are a good mix in. Get a wok, easy to cook veggies and chicken in.

You need a pot and a pan for this:

PAN: spray some pam in it, or butter I guess would work. turn burner to high, brown two chicken breasts on both sides. turn temp down to medium-low, pour in one can of Del Monte Stewed Tomatoes (Cajun, Italian, Mexi, or regular). Cover. Simmer at med-low on one side for 10 minutes. Flip chicken, cook for 10 more minutes. Add spices if you want. (I add diff spices based on what flavor stewed tomatoes)

POT: White rice. Instant if you cant handle something else.

Pour chicken breast on top of rice, add stewed tomatoes and sauce. Serves two.

I lived off this as a bachelor. Still cook it for my wife from time to time.

I literally have not cooked anything (except Ramen noodles) on my stove/in my oven in over a year. I just always eat out.

    Thanks for advice.

I'm recently married, but I can help I think.

    :)

Stir Fry is super super easy and I've never met anyone that doesn't like it. Eat it with rice, which is a little less easy but not hard. I can't stand minute rice, I have to eat the real stuff, but you can always go with uncle Ben's.

For that matter, millions of people can't be wrong, rice goes with everything.

Everyone else already mentioned chicken and the George, and they're all right. Get yourself a bunch of marinades. That way you can make basically the same thing over and over, but you don't really get sick of it. Barbeque sauce, teriaki sauce, lemon, garlic & herb, jack daniels, italian dressing... and the big daddy of them all - MR. YOSHIDA SAUCE! (if you've never tried it, it's amazing) Seriously, you can use everything.

If you like pasta, there are a lot of good quick pastas. Obviously, spagetti is easy. Find a good sauce you like. I like having half tomato sauce and half alfredo for fun. If you get tired of spagetti noodles, you can try raviolis and tortellinis, which are the same basic concept (boil in water) to cook, but you can spice it up a bit. Also, along the pasta line, Pasta Accents and Voila are good frozen pastas you can get in the frozen food section. I personally like the garlic pasta from Pasta Accents a lot.

Is frozen pizza too obvious? DiGorno is great, Frescetta is different but almost as good, a little cheaper too.

I like having fruity things a lot too. I frequently put canned pineapples in the fridge, and just eat them out of the can. It's good and you don't have to cook anything. Applesauce works like that way too.

If you just want something small you could always go with frozen burritos or corn dogs or something. Or you could even stoop to those little soup cups. (I eat them during class all the time)

Jiffy muffins are good and simple for breakfast. I don't ever bother to make them in a muffin pan, I make them in a pie pan and just cut it into slices. Eggs are also super easy and go with everything. Pancakes, too. Or Eggo waffles.

I rarely bought a lot of fresh vegetables when I was single cause I found that they almost always spoiled before I could get around to eating them all. You might be different though.

Anyway, hope something in there helps.

    :)

I eat out like 2 nights a week and eat at my parents the other nights since I live like 10 minutes from them.

I know that it is cheesy, but I am going to ride that train as long as I can!

What everyone else said about chicken and the Foreman grill. You can use lemon pepper, bbq pepper, bbq sauce, pretty much any kind of seasoning is good on chicken. Use your imagination.

Another one of my favorite bachelor meals is chicken quesadillas, just like at your favorite tex mex place. Just load up your grocery cart with bags of diced chicken from your freezer section, some good tortillas, and some shredded cheese. Cook the chicken in a wok, then put it on a tortilla. Pile some shredded cheese on top, fold the tortilla in half, then put in on the GF grill. Repeat. Cut them all in half and presto...chicken quesadillas. Dip them in picante sauce or sour cream and you're good to go.

Hint. ANYTHING is good on a tortilla. :)

For three consecutive months, my dinner consisted of Wolf chili and fritos. After a night of heavy drinking and the consumption of .5 pounds of pepperoni immediately before going to sleep (passing out), I began to have severe bouts with acid reflux. At that point I changed my diet. I now eat for dinner one of three things:

    1) Chicken sandwich (Foreman grill)
    2) Wolf chili and fritos
    3) Lean pockets (pepperoni, ham & cheese)

I do not have a creative bone in my body, and am unable to think of new things to eat. I just stick to the same routine. It's easy and efficient.

For breakfast, buy a crepe maker and make those things. They taste awesome especially with strawberries and they are low fat.
Buy bisquik and follow the instructions on how to make waffles, except add a little bit more milk.

    Very good!
