I was reading a poll earlier and it read something along the lines of are playoffs important. YES, they are very important. I don’t see why that is even a valid question to bring on this board. That got me to thinking about how we could get there.
So without anymore yammering let me explain when this thread is about.

This thread is meant to be used as a brain trust for Clutchfans to input ideas on how their team can get back on track toward playoffs. Answer whether or not you think it is possible to reach the playoffs? If so, how do we get there.

I for one think it is possible but think we’re going to have to do some things differently. For one think I think it’s going to hinge on whether or not the team can regain its swagger on and off court. It also needs to get serious about how it handles in-game pressure. It seems like they are mentally breaking down again even weak teams.

and yes, I know this is indeed a cool story, bro.

Winning the next 6 games, all of which are highly winnable. Getting Lowry/Ariza/Battier back will help in this endeavor. A 6 game winning streak goes a long way in re-establishing confidence which is sorely lacking as of late.

With the swagger back, we should battle well with other contenders in the last few weeks of the season.

Then we'd need Portland, San Antonio, Memphis and New Orleans to all falter (we can't conceivably catch anyone else, IMO).

We have our next 6 games against teams with a loosing record as of now. We need to win the games that we are expected to win and win about 3 more games that we are expected to loose. That will only put us in the playoff picture. The rest is dependent on what SA, Portland, Memphis, and New Orleans does.

We're scoring 101.1 points per game so our offense is not bad.

We are giving up 101.7 points per game. Defense is the problem.

The 0.6 point differential is also the closest in the league plus or minus. We are the very definition of a .500 team right now.

We can either overachieve (again) and hope some of the teams ahead of us start losing...

...or we can start playing defense.

I honestly don't think it's important to make it to the playoffs this season. In fact, I think we're better off not making the playoffs and getting a lottery pick. That said, I still root for my Rockets to win every single game. I can't do otherwise.

LOL. I was paying way too much attn to wether to use "do" or "does" at the end as it pertains to more then one team.

Sign Cook to a 10-day contract (read: inject some bench spirit)

I reject your premise, but I'll play anyway. I think we need to get lawry back and batriza, but I think we need to get Jeffries to fit into the offense. I don't thing Andersen and hayes can be consistently productive against every opponent, but Jaries has some versatility. He doesn't do anything really good, but I think the offense can make things easier for him, and make us less reliant on Scola for inside play.
