A question for the tekkies out there. How do people record their TV without a camera, in HD? I think I heard something about a capture card and I tried to look on YouTube but didn't find anything useful. If you know how to do this, please explain to me, step by step. Thanks in advance!

    RTFM.

    Seriously, though...

The Capture card is installed on the computer.
The drivers, program, etc., are all installed on the computer.
The HDTV's output cable is connected to the capture card.
    The TV is turned on.
The program on TV is played.
The program on the computer is turned on.
The button to record is pressed on the program on the computer.
[your TV show is now being recorded on the computer]
The button to stop the recording is pressed.
Now you've recorded an HD TV show onto your PC.

ps. Please call us the colloquial "NERDS!!!" or "GEEKS!". Spell "Techies" appropriately, sir.

Dazzle is probably the cheapest and easiest to setup.

Just have to plug everything in and use the program given. Viable on a laptop too since you don't have to install anything in a comp.

Downside is that is doesn't record in HD

Actually these capture TV signals so you can watch TV on your computer, not capture cards, atleast not all of them. If you want to capture whats on YOUR TV (maybe video games), then you need a capture card

I think this is what your looking for.
