i think Yao should come to hand,it donot mean Yao shoot a basket in the every offence.Yao isnot end point in the every offence. but i think at least ought to pass to Yao ,i beleve if chance isnot good Yao will pass ball to teammate. Now offence of rocket havenot orderly ways so that rocket lost their season-high fourth straight game. rocket will challenge today wish to GOOK LUCK
I've often said that the offense should go through Yao. Pass it to him down low, let him get doubled then pass it out to the open man! Yao can pass, let's use that skill! If Yao doesn't get doubled then let him take the shot, if it's open... Welcome to the board, rocketfan.china!
Use Yao like they use Shaq. Have Yao outrun his opponent in the post, get under 5 feet of the basket and bully his way in. That's what I want to see more often, because I've seen him do it a few times every game with ease. Why they make him run a high pick and role I don't know. I mean if they're going to do it, Mobley, Francis, and Posey should atleast toss a lob pass to Yao instead of shooting 20 foot fade aways, and have a slashing Yao down the paint get the lob and an easy dunk or lay in. That was a play I haven't seen much of since that break out Dallas game where Yao scored 30 points. Our guards just don't make that extra pass that could mean a much easier basket for our team. As of now, we're on a losing streak because Steve and Cat just aren't making their shots and getting their 50+ points combined. They're just not playing productively. I think once Steve had that breakout game against L.A, it went to his head and he's forcing more bad shots again. I wonder how many games it'll take for that dose of reality to kick in, that he can't attempt to score 40 points every night and get a win.
Also I don't like it when they kick the ball into Yao on the post when he's around the 15 foot mark, and they make him take a few dribbles just so he can get in the comfort zone. Everytime I see that I think of how easy it is for him to turn the ball over, which he does more often then not. I mean a 7'6 dribbler has so much oppurtunity to get the ball ripped from him that it's almost as bad as watching Mobley or Francis force up bad shots. Use Yao's height and weight to his advantage. Let him work his way low in the post block, and get the easy buckets.
Yao Ming should be getting the ball more often. I can't believe Rudy has him playing above the free throw line setting picks. This takes Yao out of the paint and when there is rebound to be had he is out of position. He has to come over the back and get a foul called. Yao should be posted down low all the time nuff said. The offense would flow because he can see the court and find the opened man if needed. The Rockets sould also seriously trade for a Power Forward.
I don't claim to know as much as Rudy does about basketball, but when guys like Red Kerr,Calvin Murphy and others who watch the game see the same problems that I see, it makes me feel better. Bottomline is when you have a 7'6 300lbs post player with the soft hands and mobility Ming has you should use him. A coach of any sound mind and body would know this. I don't care what anyone says or how much money the "Franchise" makes, this team is only as good as Ming. Why? The reason is that he can get good close percentage shots more often than anyone on this team. He can also do this at the lower risk of a turnover than our guards. How would i use Ming? This is or the simplest question in the world. Why would you even use him as a decoy? First off, you start him opposite ball on the low blocks. Next, you have the guard make a pass to the wing and cut through the lane. If the guard doesn't get the ball, he sets a pick and roll Ming to the front of the rim. This would free him up and he would get the ball in a very good position. Another way to use Ming in the pick in roll would be using the handoff on v and back cuts. Its quite possible to go on and on about how to use Ming and none are difficult. The bottom line is that Ming should get at least 15 shots per game and potentially 30 touches minimum in the game and in scoring positions. Period!
Well the difference between Yao and most Centers of course is his height!! Yao needs to be a little more aggressive, he is forgetting to be stronger in the post. The Rockets should spread out and have good spacing if they want to make things happen. While Yao is posting up we should have a good spacing and let Yao do his thing or passing the ball over to the open man and swinging the ball. Thats how we use Yao
The consensus among the "experts" is that Rudy is not using Yao to run the offense because he does not want to over pressure the kid. And these "experts" agree with Rudy. I agree with this philosophy, but I'd like Rudy to use it atleast for one game. I would just like to see what Yao can do right now and what he can't. We go through SF and the Cat every time, every game. Can we just have one Yao only game? PS - the "experts" are referred to as the commentators on ESPN, etc.
I agree with all you say here, man. But can you spend some time on correcting your grammer a bit to make your post easier to understand?
All the above I want to see, but we need to stop all the dribbling. The fastest way to get the ball up the court is by passing. Our players should learn several plays of passing the ball up the court. (ala Magic Johnston) If this can be done there is much more time for decission making on the offensive end, especialy if the Rockets learn the inside outside game. Dribble Mania has been with the Rockets for the last few years, its about time that it came to its resting place. I feel sure if the passing game was introduced it would help Francis perform more like we want him to.
another thing i would like to see is, someone else besides yao inbounding the ball when the opposite team score. It would save some energy, and give him more time to come down and establish position....
Yeah I'd prefer to see Posy inbound the ball, or Griffin. One of our tall players who has good court vision and can see over most defenders. Again Shaq in most scoring situations out runs his opponent in transition, pushes his opponent under the basket gets the ball lobbed inside to him and slams it while getting fouled. Yao can do the exact same thing, if he didn't have to inbound the ball after a made bucket. The only legitamete argument I think could be used as to why they're not going to Yao is overall fatigue, but with limited minutes now he seems to be back in his flow of making those inside buckets again. Feed the ball to Yao when he's on the court, so that his energy spent out there isn't wasted.
The guy is obviously chinese (his sn ) and it's understandable that his grammer isn't the best. I've been in this country for over a decade and my grammer is still pretty inconsistent (and I've was here at a young age where I was more impressionable). This is a bbs not an english paper, u don't have to be so critical. I'm just glad I passed the AP so I don't have to take any more english classes in college.
