How disappointed would you be if the Rocks sign a Power Foward other than Swift?

    Just a thought....
Looks like the Portland/NJ deal for SAR is not going to happen. NJ can not really give Portland what it desires most...the ability to shed as much salary as quickly as possible. With that in mind, would you accept a deal that sent Derek Anderson(2 years left), Patterson(2 years left/player option year two)and Shreef for a reasonable salary (about $6 mil or so a year for five years) for our expiring contracts plus Howard? (Might likely include - Baker, Mooch, Wesley...possibly Ward)

Remember any new trade deal is 125% + $100k. This allows significantly more flexibility in trades. Essentially we can structure the trade to give SAR his desired salary without using the MLE.

I'm sure that Les would prefer not adding additional salary while obtaining a targeted player.

I'd be so disappointed that I'd start two threads hypothesizing the situation.

If we give up Howard and get back only SAR at the 4 spot, who the hell is going to play D??

SAR can't guard Collier on crutches.

We will end up with Bowen guarding the KG's, Nitwitzki's, Brand's, Rasheed's, etc, etc

I thought that what Portland desired was a number one pick, not to shed salary.

People please. Don't disrespect a long time member and one so well respected as ROCKET!!! You just make yourself look like a fool.

Anyways, my greatest fear is not getting anyone at all and having to hope that JH's heart doesn't cause him any problems. I'd say if we get Swift or SAR then it will have been a great offseason. If we get Walker we are all going to have to hold our breath, but it may turn out okay. Besides that I would be dissapointed. Unless we pull off some miraculous trade for someone we're not even thinking of.

I think it was reported that Portland wants that guy and a Future 1st, for which is a small price to pay for a guy that can give you 20 & 9.

I still preffer Donyell Marshall. I know he's getting old, but if we hold on to our expiring contracts, we have an opportunity for someone better than Swift in the future.

I will be disappointed....because really we are sooo close right now in acquiring his services and I feel his skillset is exactly what we need at PF next to Yao and Tmac.

Yes, with all the speculation pro and con on the potential of signing Swift or not, I'd be happy with your scenario also. We need someone with talent and experience. None of them are a perfect fit but bring more to the team than sitting pat or missing out all together. A point candidly driven home by another contributor on the other thread......something about going to the carnival, leaving empty handed, and resultantly, looking like a clown .

We'd we better regardless of which one we sign, just in different ways.

With only the MLE, i dont expect there is much the Rockets can do. If Swift chooses us, that is our luck; if not, then live with it. My hope is not high anyway.

Damon S. at the Toyota gives further credence to a Portland deal. I just makes to much sense.

SAR and Damon S. to the Rocks????

a trade with portland is possible. but.....

if portland wants a 1st for Shareef from NJ who are danging a trade clause meaning that portland takes on no salary.

If we were to do a sign and trade with portland for both shareef and damon chances are we'd either have to take a bad contract (derrick anderson) or give them a few picks because we would also have to send some salary over. they won;t just do us a favor.
