Remember the days when you came here just for the basketball news? When you thought that the hangout forum was for complete geeks? I thought so until last March. Oh, I ventured into the hangout a couple times before then... but all I saw were these weird things called "caption games." But after 1.5 years of being a basketball-only poster, I took the plunge. Why? Bob Rainey! That's right, you guys have the biggest troll in ccnet history to thank (or curse) for my presence here. I briefly checked the hangout, saw some thread about "gun control..." and the rest is history. He managed to piss me off enough so that I got hooked. How did you guys start visiting and posting in this forum?
There I was, in front of the computer late at night, posting in the BBS Hangout. I was wearing my red boxer shorts...you know, the ones with the firetrucks on them. Then suddenly, my girlfriend, wearing her Victorias Secret finest, walked up behind me and whispered in my ear.. "Take me big boy. Take me now. I want you". ...and that's how I lost my BBS Hangout virginity!!
I knew I should have gone with the less colorful "How did you come to start posting in the hangout forum?"....
I started a political thread last week. Got into a disagreement with haven. He put me on his "Ignore List." I guess that qualifies as "losing my virginity"-- although nowhere near as great as RocketmanTex. Someone tell haven for me, okay, since he won't see this....
I first started coming to the bbs this summer during the whole Hakeem-watch. when he left, I was so bitter about it, I stopped visiting altogether. oddly enough, it was the UT/ou game that got me back into the flow of things. when UT lost the game, I was so bummed about it that I just wanted to commiserate with somebody. to my surprise, there were a whole bunch of UT commiseraters here at the hangout. I've been "hooked" ever since. I rarely post b-ball anymore. they're not as friendly and welcoming over there as all the beautiful flower people here in the hangout.
I was so sick of hearing the same crap over at the B-Ball area that I read the hangout. . . that and I did not want to do any home work. I must say its much more fun here. Especially when the right and left clash. It is always a good read. Plus there seem to be less trolls here. I dont know
I used to lurk the site because Lynus talked about it all the time. Finally one day, I just signed up and started posting (although I'm sure most of you wish he'd never mentioned it to me). Now, it's served as my replacement while he is gone. I spend all my time here instead of doing work.
MY first hangout post was in Nov of 99'. It was about Enron being built (or, the Ballpark at Union Station that is)! When I first came over here there were about eight to ten guys that posted. There was less than 3000 posts if I remember correctly. It was very laid back and people just had fun. Then the 2000 election started and then all hell broke loose. I remember some serious smackdown between BK, theFreak and others! Ah....those were the days! Now it seems that the hangout has become the place to be! I realized this when I saw Pops starting to post here. I said to myself..."self, the hangout has arrived"!
I didnt really get into posting on forums till bout last May. A couple was running a Forum called Extreme Topics and I extremely got addicted to it. I have always visited the Rockets section just to check out news. But after Extreme Topics went down, I started posting in the Hangout section here. I didnt realazie there was a section until someone moved a thread from the Rockets forum to here.
