I am just curious because I've been scanning this site for a long time and thought it would be interesting to know how people found out and first visited this site. If I remember correctly, in early 1997 I was looking for Rockets / basketball stats. The main forum for Rockets chatter was this newserver called alt.basketball.nba.houstonrockets i believe. But Yahoo was fairly new, didn't have the search engine as well constructed as now, and was more of a link based system. And if you went to basketball sites houston rockets, there was one site called clutchcity - with the tag line, "Dedicated to the team I love" or something like that. Back then I think it was just a simple site with stories and no BBS. But I kept coming back to it just because of the name. The bbs went up in 1999 but I didn't join until 2002, 7 years ago. But hard to imagine that it's been 12 years. Of course, my memory is foggy so I could have it wrong.
I live in Macedonia and I'm Rockets fan since 1997. Since last year I got fast broadband and flatrate internet and accidentally found some Rockets games on Mininova. I started watching them and then I was getting hungrier for new ones. I scanned the whole internet and finally found the Rockets torrent tracker. After watching a lot of Rockets games I become interested in some news and my source was only Rockets.com. I registered to twitter and started following Jason Friedman and OfficialRockets. Once by mistake I went to Jason's Twitter page and there he was sending reply to The_YoYo about clutchfans.net and crediting his work. Then i found the site, after that the BBS. And I'm visiting the BBS couple of times daily since then. I'm not very active on the BBS, but when is game time I'm always on the IRC channel (doesn't matter that the time here is 2:00 or 3:00 - even 4:00 am, i love the Rockets) There! :grin:
I don't really remember. I remember reading stuff on the site for a couple years before I joined because every time I tried to create an account, they were not accepting new members. I finally was able to create an account in 2006
I found it from some Houston Texans forum that started up the year before our new team was formed. Someone mentioned the site, I joined a year later after lurking, and that's that. Rox fan since 1980 but I didn't become a computer ace until 2000. I was still a party animal then, had no home PC, but found a great job out of college and learned the intranet. Now I work an hour a day and surf for seven.
First time through the saveourrockets.com site. Was away a long time and heard Matt Jackson talking about the site and signed up again.
I'm not sure I remember. But I was definitely here in '99 because I remember the Spurs April fools prank. I might have found it through a UH message board (maybe on Rivals?) which would have made it '98.
Was trying to find out who Steve Francis was going to sign with after he was released from New York and came across the site. Signed up becuz it looked cool

SaveOurRockets.com I joined in May 2002 as Branman and got banned for starting an Astros thread in the Rockets forum asking for anyone who had ESPN insider to look up an astros article for those of us waiting in the astros forum. I guess a mod was having a bad day. Did SOR have a forum? I remember talking to a guy named northstar who I think is in clutchfans now. Maybe that was an espn forum. Can't remember.
Some time around 97 or 98. I had a name on the old board before the reset. I worked nights so I'd surf the web looking at Rockets stuff and found cc.net. I miss the old days of the site - daily recaps, commentary, summer camp photos. I used to never go to the bbs, now I rarely look at the cf page. I still get excited when April 1st rolls around though...
Feverishly scavenging through the darkest corners of the internet to obtain whatever scraps of information I could obtain about this team. Stumbled upon clutchcity.net and just read the main page from time to time, then started lurking in the forums, then joined and became the relative unknown I am today!
I honestly can't say I remember.. I think it was during the time I was searching for a Rockets related newsgroup.. remember those..? long story short.. most would just be terribly inactive, eventually die.. and through trial and error.. stumbled upon the site.. I suppose.. I do remember, however, being excited about the Pippen aquisition at the time.. and being a fan of Cuttino "The Cat" Mobley..
