Was the game any good? Did JVG say anything interesting about the college game or specific players? Did he and Tirico had good chemistry? I was at the Nets game (free tickets they gave out), but I would have really wanted to see Duke-Davidson tonight. Thanks for any info you may have.

    From what I can remember:

    1. He is annoyed at all the charges from both sides. (And for the record, the # drawn was about equal for both.) He thinks they should implement the NBA semicircle inside which no charges should be called.

    2. He thought Singler was the best player out there tonight. At least he did when I was watching, I stopped at the 7 minute mark or so bc I was sick and needed a nap. He thinks he'll have a prosperous NBA career as the power forward position is moving towards people like him that can spread the floor and penetrate facing the basket as well. He compared him to other mobile fours Duke has had in the past (Battier and Dunleavy). And he absolutely loved Duke's ability to post up Henderson because Singler could step outside and shoot the open three if necessary.

    3. He liked Duke's defense in general, I know, big surprise. The fact that they could rotate any one of their players on screens meant that Curry had an extremely hard time getting open.

    4. He thinks that Curry has PG potential in the NBA in that he has great court vision, but he still needs to work on his decision making.

I missed the part where Davidson put up their furious second half rally, so feel free to interject with praise for them that I missed.

Pete Chilcutt must have come out in the wrong era... They've been talking up outside shooting power forwards for years. And those players seem to have the same flameout rate as traditional power forwards.

Shooting 4s are an obsession of JVG. Had Larry Johnson for that role with Knicks. Had Padget in 04/05. Was kicking himself publicly for not having one in 05/06. Brough Padget back next season, but used Battier for the shooting 4 mostly. Now as commentator he talks about shooting 4s quite often. Recall him talking about Nocioni being at his best as shooting 4.... aslo talk about Houstong playing Artest, McGrady and Battier togeter, with Artest as shooitng 4.

I (as a Duke student) was there for the game. Of course, I couldn't hear the commentators. The energy level was amazing (as always).

People started lining up outside the arena the night before, and many people did not get in. It was raining like crazy 2 hours before the game started. Everyone got soaked; so many of the tents (for the Duke-UNC game in like 4.5 weeks) were uprooted.

    Duke defense was great.
Duke offense was pretty bad imo, no penetration, bad passing game.
Singler looked really good; he reminds of me of Dirk. Good post game, rebounding, shooting, passing, clutchness, etc.
As much we insulted Curry; he can straight up play. He can make a mean combo guard. (Imo he is a better version of Aaron Brooks) He is pretty much a ball hog, and will have difficulty playing the point. (like AI)

Oh yeah, have to add: Go to Hell Carolina, Carolina Sucks, Hansbrough sucks.

I somehow thought that this was a reference to Antoine Walker "shooting 3s because there are no 4s". :D
