I don't get it, we have stars player, we're a very good team, and we're winning.

However, every game I watched, Toyota center is never full, there are always empty seats every where, espcially in the end.

Watching other good teams in the NBA, every one of them had their arean PACKED with fans, but only Toyota center, that hurts my eyes a lot.

    What's up with Houston?

There are a lot of corporate seats in the lower bowl. Companies give them away to clients and employees ... a lot of times those people aren't really fans and /or don't show up.

I don't know. All I can say is that I've been in those seats before and a lot of people spend a majority of time below in the Lexus Lounge. They think it's cool to go, but don't really care all that much. I may be wrong, but I don't remember that problem so much at the Compaq Center.

Beyond that patch of the sideline that the cameras always seem to catch, the crowd was packed tonight. Over 18,000 is as much as any basketball team can ask for regular season.

But it's the NBA, so face it, it's mostly corporate fat-cats for whom money is no object that fill those seats. I really wish they could make a system whereby fans moved down, or just be more lax on security like in baseball so that we can just police ourselves, but it's not like that, and fans will just have to live with the profit-maximizing sport-diminishing nature of public seating. That's why to me college will always be better, because those fans just two feet off the court are the ones most willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to help their team win. They are the true sixth man, and their enthusiasm gets even the old fogies sitting way up standing for most of the game too. Regular season college games, if they're good, can destroy any NBA playoff atmosphere crowd in my book.

actually it started after the Portland game :p

as stated below in my sig, im tired every every year someone bickering about why it's empty, do you part and show up, if you can't make, then dont comment, if u do and other's don't show up, don't comment on it, cause u did your part, if you ONLY SEE what's on TV, then just dont think about even clicking on the "create thread" button, because your are making a fool of yourself

as stated last year during the playoffs, don't pass judgement unless your at the game, or post some lame comment "i didn't hear the rowdies enough on TV" geez

a full thread devoted to the subject?

must have missed it....easy to do with threads disappearing off the front page in a matter of hours.

oh well, smartass remark wasted....I hate it when that happens. :(

if i go to the game with my nosebleed tickets how am i fixing the problem of the bottom looking empty on television? do i have to buy $50 tickets in order to talk about the fairly large number of empty seats i saw in the 4th quarter? is this an optical illusion on television but they're actually filled at the arena? please explain.

this isn't an issue in the playoffs and may improve as the season heats up, but it's really noticeable when you compare it to some other arenas. atleast sit down for the 4th quarter against the defending champions, you know?

I don't know if this was worth a thread but I agree with the thread. I, a college student , can't afford seats. I only go to about 3 or 4 games a season. I do feel that we have alot of white collar fans. The red rowdies are awesome to me tho. It bothers me that minute maid is packed when the stros suck and the same with the texans and reliant, but the rockets can't get the support they deserve. I don't mean support from the pockets, because we obviously have a whopping 9 straight sellouts. However, What away team should feel intimidated playing at TC?

I agree that a thread is really not needed, but the "Making a fool of yourself " comment was a little weak.

Can i say its because of Steve Francis?
Alex and Morey even CD need to think about it...
NBA is not Olympic game, sometimes dealing with fans is much more important than listening to the coach...think about what have Rockets really really got in the last three years after the Francis Mobley Cato trade in 2004? a scoring player like Tmac and thats all...that trade really hurt a lot of fans...

I have no doubt if we kept Steve-Yao-Cat system we would NOT just being a Playoffs first round meeter in the last three years and keeping RudyT the better...

AND Stevie would never allowed the humiliation happen to us in the Mavs and Jazz series!

I love the steve-yao-cat-rudy squad but u can't be serious
a scoring player like Tmac and thats all...

    Boy some people are clueless.

Us not going further than the first round is why fans lost interest.IMO

I AM serious...I'm not saying us not going further than the first round is why fans lost interest. U misunderstood. What im trying to say is what we really need in this team. If u compare Steve's games in the Lakers series and Mavs Jazz series you'll get my point...yeah i know Tmac could score more but what else? losing 40 points down and terrible plays in the Jazz series would NOT even happen to Steve and Cat's game!

You are right Stevie never did allow that humiliation to happen, because he couldn't even get to the playoffs. :)
