How come Dubai and Qatar do not seem to have to worry about terror?

    I have never heard of a terror attack in Dubai...or even a threat of it...or seen hotels taking precautions. How come? Don't they stray from what militant islamists would view as "pure" islam? :confused:

    People drink alcohol, eat during Ramadan and in the hotels and on the beaches, women can wear bikinis (I have seen some apparent Russian hookers in the Grand Hyatt, wearing almost nothing and a couple of times going topless).

    There is also quite some prostitution going on in Dubai.

    I would think that Bin Laden would not approve of these things. I may be wrong.

    As with America years and years before 9/11, I have long believed Dubai will experience a major terrorist attack.

    Put it in the bank. It's just a matter of when.

    IMO quite simply because Bin Laden's priority is Saudi Arabia. That has always been the case, and no one seems to realize it.

    He is not on some rampage against anyone who disobeys Islam lol

    They said the same thing about the USA having a guaranteed attack again back after 9/11. Nothing happened and nothing will. It's a bogus threat. Go watch your cholesterol instead.

    Have we ever had a poster who has gotten so obsessed with one ethnic group or religion to this pont they can post on nothing else?

    Does anybody know if this type of obsession is today gripping Germany as a whole?

    This is probably accurate. Or, alternatively, you don't want to bomb the city where your terrorist benefactor goes drinking and whoring. That would be bad for business.

    But there are plenty of terrorist attacks in Yemen, Iraq, etc. etc., just not in the "rich" Arabic countries.

    Some possible explanations have been offered here and I can't help thinking that they are on the right track.

    Basically - why bomb those who fund you, or enable you to get your funding.

    Others managed to give coherent and interesting responses. You did not.

    The topic is:

    Why do other - also Muslim - countries like Yemen, Iraq, Egypt, etc. suffer from terrorist attacks, but the rich ones like Dubai and Qatar do not, although they allow certain "freedoms" (alcohol, women wearing skimpier clothing) equally or more so, which one could think would be a thorn in the eye of hardcore militant islamists.

    I think it's a number of things, part of is there's probably some backdoor and indirect financing of terrorism through these countries governments, whether intentional or not reamins another question. I think aqnother is that Bin Laden's main goal is to liberate the holy land(Mecca, Medina, Jersusalem) from the zionist/american/westernized arabs who control it. Dubai and Qatar are also much more stable and wealthy then Yemen or Egypt. And I think the populatipon is also more secular.
