The Lakers are young and in their prime during our window to win which is the next three years. They are the standard we must overcome. Discouraging.

The only advantage the present team has over them is that if we can get Yao the ball down low, neither Bynum nor obviously Gasol can guard him. T Mac can get Yao the ball if they can't just collapse on Yao and keep T Mac from dishing and passing.

Battier, Scola and Landry will be overmatched by their front line.

Only the acquisition of a real third scorer guard/ wingman who can both drive and shoot will keep them from collapsing. Our chances of getting this player are 1) the possibility of Steve Francis recovering to 90%, a longshot, or 2) but perhaps not much worse, getting this mythical third scorer from somewhere.

We beat the Lakers by double-digits in our 22nd straight win! We left Kobe nearly crying in that game. I have no doubt we could've beaten them if we met them in the playoffs.

As long as we are healthy we would beat them.

Like Adleman says, we need more size backing up Battier. We need another shooting guard backing up T-Mac. We need another great ball distributing guard for the icing on the cake.

    1. Battier does a better job then Bowen
    2. Tracy can score a lot to answer Kobe
    3. Yao can score a lot to answer Gasol
    4. Rafer and Fisher cancel each other out
    5. Odom and Scola cancer each other out
    We have answers.

Plus every team has a team that exposes them

    Utah exposes Houston
    Spurs expose Utah
    Suns expose Lakers
    Lakers exposes Spurs
    Warriors exposes Dallas
    Spurs expose Hornets
    Spurs expose Suns
    Nuggets expose themselves
    Houston exposes Lakers too

The Rockets are going to need depth on the frontline and behind Shane.

3 7-footers are going to snatch up a lot of boards, especially since 2 of the 3 7-footers are light on their feet.

Kobe's game is going to outlast Battier's more times than not. You need another solid player to sub for Battier to either defend Kobe or provide offense for damage control.

All this doesn't matter if Yao or McGrady can't get their games going. The point guard is not that big of an issue if you're playing LA.

Regular season vs. post season is different game. The laker have 4 or 5 players who talent allows them to go up a notch, the rox have 2. Not to mention the size/matchup problems. They have consistend 3 pt shooters, the rox have streaky guys. I keep stressing if they don't do something major, they'll never come out the west. Also, don't bury the spurs yet. They'll use the mle wisely, and might dangle manu for a more consistent jefferson.

Honestly, the Lakers don't scare me. Not the way the old Lakers did with an unstoppable Shaq. I've seen Chuck Hayes limit Gasol before. Battier can bother Kobe better than Bowen. Odom will be bothered by the physicality of Scola and Bynum. The only x-factor is Rafer. If he shoots a good % against the Lakers, then we win. I don't think there is a team right now that is head and shoulders above the rest of the league.

that's because he was w the Grizz; against Gasol/Kobe, Hayes would be PNRed to death !
    base on what ????????

    you mean Landry

actually, both of Scola and Landry will be out-classed by Odom athleticism

if the Lakers play good, it doesn't matter how Rafer performs.

You guys are forgetting about Bynum when he comes back.
I'm still flabergasted at the highway robbery (or underhanded maneuver) that made Gasol a Laker. It's like Houston getting Baron Davis for Rafer Alston. How far would we go?

Rockets were 2-1 against the Lakers this season.

Rockets won the 1st game but LA were without Odom.

In the second game the Lakers won and it was a pre-Gasol trade team.

Lakers lost the last matchup but were missing both Bynum and Gasol.

    - Just find a team and make this Gasol kind of a deal ; Bobby + Landry(snT) + Luther + Steve = Vince Carter

    - We need to make our big three , in the other way we dont have big chance against Lakers cause they're really though , and when Bynum back they will be much more thougher .

-But realize this; Next year we must be considered as the one of the best 3 teams in the west with Orleans and LA . T-Mac and Yao are passing their primes , we got good pieces to use in a big trade and I believe we have to go all in this summer , otherwise the T-Mac / Yao duo will be remembered as a dissapointment after 10 years .

The Rockets won 22 in a row, half without Yao. I think the Rockets can compete with the Lakers.

If the Rockets need a "Big 3," the 3rd superstar has to come from the point guard position. Balance is key on this team.
