I know the team is young, but this is getting stupid. Why is it that the Rockets always leave hot players open? In Portland, it was Steve Smith. Tonight, it was Damon Staudamire. Why? They let him take open shot after open shot. They constantly allowed him into the lane for easy shots. No one ever played help defense. Every loss its the same thing. Hot players are left wide open to drain easy shots. Also, why is it that the Rockets never know how much time is left on the clock? Every time the clock runs down, a player passes instead of shooting. Don't they learn from anything? I think this happened about 5 times in the third quarter. I know the Rockets can't be perfect, but youth is no excuse for the same old mistakes each game. Doesn't Rudy tell them about their mistakes? They're repeated over and over again. The only problem with other young teams is that they can't shoot. They rarely show these stupid habits game in and game out. This up and down season is starting to look bleak. They could be facing a 4 game losing streak by this time next week. Sorry for the rant, but I can't stand it when the Rockets constantly shoot themselves in the foot. The Blazers did not earn that win, it was giftwrapped and handed to them as an early Christmas present. The only positive in the game was the nice run, but that shouldn't have been necessary. When are the Rockets going to play consistently? When will they get a winning streak? Absolutely. Outside of Jason Williams, Sacramento is not a young team. The Rockets are going to make a lot of mistakes. That is part of the growing up process. ------------------ Mmmmmmm. Sacrelicious.
Jeff the kings to me look pretty young. williams, pollard, b.jackson, peja,turkoglou, funderburke, are all young christie isnt old, webber isnt old, barry is a mid age vet, ditto for martin. divac is getting up there as is nick anderson. ------------------ --TEX
I understand that leaving men open can be attributed from not having the experience to develop those sort of instincts (perhaps), but I think the shot clock violations are really pretty ridiculous. That's just one thing that players need to be aware of... most high school teams don't have problems with that. Funderberke is really good to me. Im surprised he is coming off of someone's bench. He could be a solid starter for some team. ------------------
If there is a guy I'm going to leave open it is Mighty Mouse, with that being said he steped up and hit some tough shots. 99.9% of the time he misses those shots and we have a very good chance of winning, but he did and we lost. ------------------ "We need to fockass".....Dream back in the day
What is wrong with the Rockets? Portland is a very good team and with loads of talent. Their bench may be better than some teams in the league. Their main problem is the sheer amount of talent they have. Every team needs role players and go to guys. With Portland, they have the luxury to have role players step up to a go to guy for a game or a stretch of games. The Rockets loosing to Portland is really the expected outcome. Having a different Portland have a big game each time is also no surprise. BTW, there are few NBA 1s who can slow Damon down. Thst is, this is not a case of Frncis dogging the D as much as Damon deciding to have a big game. ------------------
The Rockets are like a poor man's version of the Kings. Both have the flash but the Kings make less mistakes.
Funderburke is not young. He will be 30 on 12/15/00. This is 7 months younger than Christie. Peja is just past 23, but was discovered by Byron Scott in Greece in 1996. He played there 3 years before joining the Kings. The team has played alot of minutes together and learned how to win. The Rockets will get there. Patience. ------------------ GATER
