I made a short film on 16mm that I edited for my final project. it is six and a half minutes long and I burned it onto DVD(I also have the footage on a mini-DV tape). here is my question: can anyone help me get this up on the Internet or on a host website so that you can view the film? there is no dialogue, it is more like a music video. I used a Led Zeppelin song and some original piano that I recorded. it stars my best friends, some of them who have legitamite acting careers, and I would love some feedback. mr paige, rockHead, anyone? PS: looks like I am in houston until thursday, DAMN IT IS HOT
I am not too bright as far as digital technology goes. let me find out how many megs and i will get back to you. how many megs is a six and a half minute DVD usually? hopefully my brother in Austin can help me out.
It's probably a couple of GIGs, at least, right now in its current format. You'll likely need to take the video and downconvert it to something more suited to the web like QuickTime or RealMedia or Windows Media (Windows Media gives the smallest files in my experience).
Download some ftp server software, then everyone could just download it directly from your cpu. I have used Bulletproof FTP, try your local P2P...
That is true. I was thinking about the pre-MPEG2 video for some reason. Of course, it would depend on the bitrate, etc. as to how big the actual DVD video is at this point, but a better guess would be roughly 200 meg, perhaps. Either way, though, it would be better to convert it to a more-web-friendly format and size.
Windows Movie Maker 2.0 is fantastic. All you really need to do is load it there and change it to whatever format. Webhosting is another issue........
okay, thanks for all the suggestions. as soon as i compress it into a better format i will contact you. much appreciated
