My roommate spends a good portion of the day downloading High Definition episodes of tv shows from Itunes. I'm on a DSL router in another country, and thus the episode sometimes take 2-3 hours to download. It is frustrating as heck to tell him every single time to stop downloading these high bandwith tv shows while I'm using my computer. Can an IT guru or anyone tell me what I need to either block Itunes or the Itunes store? Are there specific IP addresses I need to block. (I have access to the configuration of the router online by accessing the 192.168.1.1 login page) Thanks!
This should give you a headstart: http://www.teamonetickets.com/software/how-to-block-itunes-radio-streams.html http://lists.apple.com/archives/Client-management/2005/May/msg00281.html I Googled "block itunes from".
Use QoS to prioritize your data ahead of his? Or use a time-out feature for his IP and then lock him out after a certain amount of time..
are you using a linksys wrt54g? I don't recall but you may be able to block specific ports. You may need to identify which ports iTunes is using and add that to the list of blocked ports. or you could filter out his MAC address and cut off his internet completely.
this is the agreement my roommates and I have whenever we are downloading music, games,p*rn etc everything done at night or when everyone is at work but no one is to download anything from like 5pm-midnight when at least 1 of us is usually home and weekends
