Well, I thought about using it to help pay off a loan or maybe save up on a down payment on a house... yeah...screw that...I'm buying a new computer! God bless consumerism and American greed!!
Since I owe $1,500, I'm not. Even though I did find it interesting that even without the circumstances that caused me owing money, I still would have received less this year than I would've last year and the year before.
Before I sold the company we had a very off year, or at least we did not get paid until the new year...and because of that, I get ALL of my taxes back....ALL of it. Yipee !!!! DD
Damn...that sucks. Aren't you still unemployed?? How in the hell do you owe that much?? I am getting back a little over $1300 bucks. Most of that will be going to my credit card in getting it down to a reasonable balance and the remaining 300 or so will go to the homeowners' insurance payment.
I cleared 5k, plus I got my bonus at work. Built a new computer with a 17" flat panel, paid a few bills and the rest is in the bank.
8 months of unemployment benefits plus 3 months of extended benefits. All paid to me without taxes cut out of them. I owe Uncle Sam a lump sum on April 15 for all of the pay benefits I got last year. Funny how Uncle Sam helped me out last year, but this year he's gonna put me out on the streets.
I was going to blow it off on a new cell phone but told my parents that Id pay my books off this semester with my refund.
why don't they just give you less benefits and not deem it as income? i've never really understood that. "here's a benefit...but you've gotta pay X% of it back to us in April. Enjoy!"
Got a fat refund of $924 from last summer's internship. I'd like to use it towards a downpayment on a 2002 Tahoe LT, but the more sensible side of me says keep the 98 Ranger 4x4. That, and the fact that I owe about $6700 in student loans.
I could be wrong but dont you have the option of having them take out the taxes when you get your unemployment check so you arent stuck with a big bill come April 15th? Going to Playa Del Carmen with my refund
You're right, you do have that option. I didn't take it because I needed all the money I could get. I don't think anyone really takes it, since they expect to be working by April 15 of the following year. Ahh well, that's life.
