With the WNBA's future in doubt, what do you think of the Rockets hiring Van Chancellor, if Rudy T gets the ax or steps down? He seems to have lots of experience and he knows the team better than any other coaching prospect out there. Les knows him well and could be available if the WNBA folds as many think it will.

His qualifications are not good enough.

He would probably fail like Pitino did in Boston.

Van Chancellor is a very intelligent guy and has won 4 championships. He is very experienced. But not head coach. I think it would be perfect if he was an assistant coach. He could be an assistant with the Rockets...and remain the head coach of the Comets in the summer. ;)

That would be neat. I think he's a great coach. Know the game very well.

The players would laugh at Van Chancellor. he'd get no respect, just like ole' Rodney.

They actually respect him right now, they call him coach and talk to him all the time with respect. Van is always talking about how the rockets player are always going up to him calling him coach, and telling him how they're feeling about the game that night. I think he would make a great assistant coach.

Had it not been canceled, the WNBA draft would have been held on Wednesday. The Rockets are playing in Denver on Wednesday. Training camp begins soon...what if the Rockets had gone to the playoffs this or any other year? In other words: coaching both teams ain't gonna happen...ever.

you do know being a coach for a professional basketball team is pretty much a 365 day thing, right. Theres scouting trips, and summer league and all that good stuff. I mean you cant be a coach for an NBA team than take the summer off and go coach a bunch of girrrrrls.
