Houston sends Cleveland Weatherspoon for resigned Williams and Wagner. Houston sends Sonics Mo Taylor for Antonio Daniels and Calvin Booth. Houston new line up: PG: AD/LUE/Gaines SG: TM/EP/Wagner SF: JJ/Williams/Nachbar PF: JH/Williams C: Yao/CB. My feeling is CD is waiting... Why? Maybe, he wants to include JH/Lue/Gaines in a potential deal. Possibly Lue/Taylor for AD/CB? Who knows, but as the FA list gets thinner and thinner, it makes you wonder what CD is waiting for.
Weatherspoon for a young talent like Wagner and a vet like Williams is very lopsided in our favor. Mo T for Booth and AD is possible but I don't think Booth is strong enough physically as a backup for Yao.
I figured Weatherspoon for Wagner and Williams would be lopsided, but if Williams wants to play for us, then he can force a SnT. Best part of this whole scenario, we'll still have the TE and MLE for players like Rodney White, DeShawn Stevenson, Stromile Swift or Mihms.
I don't think Eric Williams can play power forward. I'd like to give up Spoon or Mo..not both. I don't know. I just want two solid power forwards..Stromile Swift..add him..yeah then that would be an OK team...maybe I'm underestimating Juwan Howard..hopefully I am.
There is no way that the Rockets Wagner for Waetherspoon. If I was the GM that gave Wagner for Spoon, I would fire myself
It's amazing how much fans of a team can overestimate it's players. I mean, we got Weatherspoon in a trade for Moochie and now FA man-boobs. How could anyone in his right mind could think that Moochie can fetch Wagner? I don't care how much of a ballhog Wagner is, he's still a thousand times more useful than Moochie will ever be.
I don't see how trading Spoon to Cleveland would make us any better. Why not just sign Eric Williams outright? We don't need Wagner if we're getting Damon Jones or Antonio Daniels, and he's not a PG anyway. He's a short SG. The Sonics wouldn't be opposed to trading Daniels and Booth for Spoon and Griffin. We should just do that.
How's that? They're so terrified of him leaving that they'd re-sign him and trade him for an ancient cap albatross? What would you rather have, Spoon mucking up your young roster or cap space?
So who's Cleveland's back up PF? Sure Weatherspoon is a a thorn in any team's side, but he's a better back up PF than anyone else they have at that position. Plus, his contract will end in 2 years, so in 1 yr he can fetch them some good players from teams wanting to get under the cap.
Who's their backup 2 if they trade Wagner? And who's their starting SF if they S/T Williams? We don't need Wagner, and we can sign Williams outright
Robert Traylor is a free agent who can potentially replace Battie as a center/power forward. He is better than Weatherspoon despite his weight problems because he is a younger player.
