It seems that the Bulls are interested in signing Shandon. Why don't we sign him to some money bigger than his bird money, and the Bulls gives Brad Miller his extension and then trade him for Shandon. Miller should not be a bad pickup for us at the Backup center spot, also this can be an insurance to us if Hakeem leaves us this summer. Finally we can draft a good SF to replace Shandon.
Interesting. How do you know that Chicago is interested in Shandon? I'd consider it. Although it seems to me that Chicago could easily sign Shandon themselves instead of going about a trade. It's not like they don't have cap room. ------------------
I would wait with doing anything like that until it is clear that we cannot get Webber - because it would prevent us from giving Webber anything close to the max.
I think the Bulls should pursue Finley. Finley+Brand+Mercer makes for a pretty good big three that will get better. Also they have a much better chance at the title coming from the East. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
Brad Miller has a team option, and it seems the Bulls aren't planning on taking it. I can think of several better ways to spend this year's cap room, which is essentially what we'd be doing if we signed Shandon to a deal better than Early Bird. Relativist-check the article linked on the front page. Interestingly enough, they all named swingmen, and with Mercer seemingly locked at SG, that means SF....which means that the Fizer SF experiment failed, and that either Fizer or Brand will be expendable. I'd think the draw of Cato and Floyd as Iowa State guys, the zone/need for shooters and veterans (Walt Williams), and the fact that their pick is in chains to us, makes us an interesting partner. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
Thanks, NIKE, for inadvertently making me feel less foolish. I'm always talking about Chicago as a draft partner. No one will play for the Bulls, so they need players force-fed them. Unless Jason Williams comes out, (and he doesn't act like he will), the high pick won't do them much good. Well, maybe Eddie Griffin. Fizer has come on strong for them, but I doubt the Bulls will move Brand. I don't know for a fact, but it would be too good to be true; he is their franchise player. An unhappy franchise player, but he's under contract for another couple years. Floyd/Fizer/Cato/Tinsley (draft) would be good for the Bulls. Brand? I wish. How high is Tinsley expected to go? Would our #13 grab him? Or will he go even higher? Opening cap space and either moving high in the draft (possible) or grabbing Brand (less possible) would be fantastic. ------------------
I mentioned elsewhere that Charlotte could really use Shandon, and I think he'd go for that team. Charlotte will probably use its exception on, uh, that 6'9" guy they have (sorry, I don't remember his name, he plays the 3/2 spots). Could we trade for David Wesley, who's out of position and wearing down, and move him to the Bulls? Just a thought. Shandon would probably like Charlotte, a contender not far from home, over Chicago....great city, but cold, and far from contending. ------------------
How about Cato and Shandon (throw in George Amundsen) for Elton Brand? ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils. PowerbizOnline.com
Anderson for Artest and Crawford ------------------ President of the Steve Francis, Jamal Crawford,Larry Hughes, and Charles Woodson fan club.
Can we trade Cato for a bag of rocks, or would that trade be too lopsided in our favor? ------------------
Amundsen was an Iowa State running back drafted #1 by the Oilers back in the 70s. Just a joke-- referring to the Cyclone connnection. ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils. PowerbizOnline.com
Try as they might, they would be wasting their time and resources. Finley is going to be with Dallas a long while. ------------------ HEAD KNIGHT: We are now... no longer the Knights Who Say 'Ni'. Does Shandon have any say in a potential sign-and-trade...? Can he block the trade based on the fact that Chicago sucks ass? Davo? HeyP? Anyone? ------------------ BK: "Hey coach, great season. Thanks!" Rudy: "Thanks guys, appreciate the support." This really happened.
Does Shandon have any say in a potential sign-and-trade...? Can he block the trade based on the fact that Chicago sucks ass? Sure he does. If he doesn't agree to a sign and trade, then it doesn't happen. ------------------
Whoops whoops whoops. I meant the Chicago part more than the sign-and-trade part. That was still a pretty stupid question.
Hoop-T, IMHO, Dallas is in no way a title contender with its current team, neither is Chicago(Of course), but Brand, Finley, Mercer, Fizer, Artest, Crawford, and this years top 4 pick(Has to be at least #4) could make a contender in a couple years. I don't see it happening either, but if he were to sign, in about 3-4 years, this would make for a pretty good team. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
