    yea one game is enough to back up the fact that a pass first point guard isn't the solution.

    Yes. Particularly a 38 year old one. I know I'm convinced. Lovely thread.

    Let me review the data to make sure I got this straight.....

    * Steve Francis gets 13 assists and 4 TO'S in a home loss with Mobley, JJax and Taylor combining for 26-44 (59.1%)

    * Mark Jackson gets 6 assists and 2 TO's in a road loss with Mobley, JJax, and Taylor combining 12-38 (31.6%)

    * 59.1% of 38 FGA's = 22 FG'S

    * 22 FG's vs 12 FG = 20+ points

    Sorry....I didn't mean to confuse anyones already made up mind with a few facts....I mean it's totally incredulous of me to assume better shooting would have impacted the game or comparing Francis to a P1S2 28 year old PG....that's just too inconvenient...

    of course GATER, as soon as i or anyone else brings up the bad shooting argument for steve, we get told he throws every pass at his teammates' feet or over their head or to the side or not where they like it or something and the bad shooting is now steve's fault.

    and of course, having jackson on the court a lot isn't a good thing whether P1S2 is what we need or not. the simple fact he can't hit a shot to save his life (even worse than steve) hurts us enough.

    Maybe Jackson didn't get them the ball in good shooting positions? Maybe the defense didn/t have to guard is slow sorry ass? Matbe the statistics are meaningless = just like the argument6 he is better than Francis.... :rolleyes:

    Here's a tough concept for you...the play in a single game of an out of shape 38 yo PG by no means is a justification that the concept of P1S2 is flawed. Then again, why would I expect you to be objective?

    Right now, I'd take a 27 yo Jackson over the all flash, no substance, no playoffs, talk is cheap, league worst assist to TO ratio, plane missing PG you want to deify. :p

    You can't have that. Dream on........

    :p

    You can have a coach that doesn't force this turnover. He is destroying himself to make Steve look bad. Oh, and the Rockets tanked - what do you expect SF's team mates to do when they know that was crap he pulled.

    Take a Monday morning flight, problem solved, we win.

    JVG just caused this one by....

    It is becoming quite apparent that having a rational discussion with you is pointless. Rudy Tomjanovich and Steve Francis walk on water and far be it for any one to question your omnipotent view on that subject. Your hatred for Jeff Van Gundy has totally blinded you from any objectivity. You're like a blind man who grabs an elephant's tail and comes to the conclusin that an elephant is small and skinny.

    ok so what pass first PG could we get since you want one?

    just name one who does everything else steve does who we would actually have a real chance at getting...

    I'm not making any suggestions here, but has anybody noticed that some of the analysts are saying that Jason Kidd is the player with whom the Nets should sacrifice because of salary cap constraints? Oh, and both Steve and Kidd are base year players. In a trade Kidd seems to be the short term fix and keeping Steve seems like the longer term solution. I still wish we could get Hinrich without sacrificing Francis.

    Absolutely. And I'd add:

    ...and the fact that using one game to support one's point in its entirety is a sure sign of either extreme bias or idiocy.

    Does that mean that I get to go back and find SF's worst ever game that the Rockets won because of another player to prove the point that a score-first PG is not suitable? Absurdity.

    What this has to do with a pass-first point guard, I'll never know.

    Who is this idealistic pass first point guard that everyone dreams of? what team does he play for? Kirk hinrich is a rookie who wont lead us anywhere, and jason kidd is not getting traded.
