Boston Trade Breakdown Outgoing Theo Ratliff 6-10 C from Wyoming 4.9 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 0.5 apg in 23.7 minutes Incoming Ryan Bowen 6-9 SF from Iowa 1.3 ppg, 1.3 rpg, 0.4 apg in 9.7 minutes Juwan Howard 6-9 PF from Michigan 11.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 1.4 apg in 31.7 minutes Bob Sura 6-5 from Florida State No games yet played in 2005/06 Change in team outlook: +8.2 ppg, +2.9 rpg, and +1.3 apg. Successful Scenario Due to Houston and Boston being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. Houston and Boston had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. ------ We'd get rid of Ratliff's contract a year sooner than we would get rid of Howard's, if I am not mistaken. Plus, Ratliff could give us shot-blocking, which Howard cannot.
I'm guessing that the Celtics actually WANT a great defensive presence at center for them. So I doubt they'll trade Ratliff for an aging power forward when they already have Al Jefferson.
why would any team give something for nothing? not even worth the time it takes to type it much less think it.
this would be great if it is theo from a few years ago. we do need a shot blocking pf/c but he really needs to be athletic. and no one really wants to give up any of their players to get howard, ry bo, or sura. they are only valuable to us...well sura and howard are.
I love how every trade proposal involves the same 3 players, or some combination of them. 1. Juwan Howard, who everybody in the league knows is overpaid and worse than an empty basket at rebounding. 2. Bob Sura, okay he's got an expiring contract, but he's trying to make a comeback. You will all be sorry when he goes 30/5/5 on another team. 3. Ryan Bowen, if another team really wanted some lanky figure with flailing limbs, I'm sure there's a robot out there on the market that could be much more effective.
I'd definitely do it. Ratliff is an excellent shot blocker and rebounder, and he can spot Yao minutes as a backup center. Not only that, but the team also frees up two other possible roster spots, as its a three for one trade. This gives some of the unguaranteed contract players a bigger chance to make the team while adding a decent big man in the process.
rules for proposing trades: 1. always ask yourself "would the other team do it?" 2. make sure the trade works under the CBA guidlines. 3. ask yourself "even if the other team would do it, and it works cap-wise, would it hurt the rockets finacially to take on the new contract(s)?" if you get through rules 1-3 then feel free to post.
Not sure about how much Ratliff has left in the tank. with a steadily declining game, and even more so, declining body. I dont think he's the answer for us. oh and the contract? wow. just say no. Howard's contract may be an albatross - but at least the guys prob more likely to be healthy. And arent we better off holding on to Sura? isnt there some kind of benefit for us even if he does retire?
Yeah...I don't think a lot of people saw what I posted about his contract, so let me say it again... 11.7 million this year 11.7 million next year
I think people here are worried too much the PF position. As much as I dislike Jho, he is a servicable player. PF is the obvious weakest link in the team but I don't think it hurts that much, I mean you don't need a 5 All-star starting player plus some more all-stars on the bench to win it all. We've got Yao. TMac, Battier and Wells, if anything else we need to make a serious run, it is a little bit luck.
