I remember last year when we played the Utah Jazz, their point guard, Carlos Arroyo was out and Raul Lopez played for him . I remember Lopez outplaying Francis in that game. He seemed to shoot pretty well and run a team nicely. How about Lopez? All we need is for someone to get the ball to where it needs to go and not turn the ball over offensively. I don't know about his defense though.
If Raul can stay healthy, I'd love to bring him in. Utah has three young PGs (Arroyo, Lopez and Mo Williams), so they probably wouldn't mind giving up one of them (assuming they re-sign Williams as they have mentioned they would). Perhaps we could offer Utah a first round pick for him.
I thought I saw a report late this last week that they don't think Williams will be back. I think they really like Lopez, as much or more than Arroyo, and if they lose Williams I don't think you will see them dealing him. The ONLY thing I could see is if they feel like they are not, or won't be able to sign him this next offseason, then we could trade them Lue plus a pick so they get something for him.
He is under the contract for another 2 years and Utah has the rights for the fourth year. MoWilliam is pretty good and lots of potential yet Utah has the rights to meet any offer. It is good to be Utah's GM.
I've advocated Lopez multiple times. He is a solid PG that can develop into a starter...I'd much rather have Arroyo, though.
