Heard tonight that he is working towards a comeback. Great board man. Decent scorer. Great lockeroom guy. No longer under any contract. What do you all think? ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils. PowerbizOnline.com
No thanks. ------------------ "Break off the block like Maurice Green" --- Steve Francis President of the Moochie Norris fan club.
If we bring back Hakeem, it may be nice to have another veteran in the front court, and is an absolute enforcer-exactly what we need. He is a great rebounder, and as noted, is great in the clubhouse. If signed to a low risk contract (ie 3 million a year, 2 years at the very maximum), he'd be a great signing. Obviously, you'd need a capable backup, or someone you're grooming (like say, a rookie draft pick), but he's a high reward player. He's currently 32. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
I always liked Jayson Williams... I was so sad when he was hurt and retired. I would absolutely love to have a player of his caliber and hustle on our team. ------------------ President of the Anal Retentive School for Jerks Hey, I wanted to be president of something, and I swear everyone took every other presidential position already.
If Williams comes back it will be with New Jersey--he was only one year into a 7 contract when he busted up his leg, so he's still got a few left to go on that deal I think ------------------ P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.
Prempeh-He filed for retirement, and New Jersey filed for a medical exception on him. He was removed from their team (not on the 15 man roster). To my understanding, it is the same as if he was waived, and is now a free agent. Think similar to Matt Maloney still having years left from us, and is still getting paid. ------------------ "That's been a lifelong dream of mine." -Vince Carter, after laying it in on a breakaway, much to the Vancouver crowd's displeasure.
I think NikeSTRAD is right. On the news they reported that he was under contract to no one. ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils. PowerbizOnline.com
It would be nice to see the NBA's best J. Williams back. I've always liked his attitude and hustle. He comes across as a really cool guy with a great sense of humor. Especially when he's around charles barkley. ------------------
DEFFINATELY take him!! but for safe money(2.5) and for 1-2 years. just in case he get re-injured. than if he appears to be whole again, long term 5-6mill deal one of the best guys to ever play the game. a total asset to thge team and the community. NJ would be pissed if he went somewhere else though. and I know he felt guilty not producing for that team and its fans peace ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
Ok, that makes sense...I remember them filing for two medical exemptions--one for Williams, which they got, and one for Kittles, which they didn't. But also...the Heat filed for a medical exemption with Zo, and obviously that didn't take him off the roster...just two completely different situations? BTW has anyone read his book? Funny stuff...that guy's a character. ------------------ P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.
Signing a healthy Williams would be an absolute coupe.Yes,his health is a big question mark, but knowing his work ethic,if anyone could make it back,it's J.If he's working out and is making a serious run at this, then we should seriously look very hard. The guy is so strong, such a great rebounder, and plays with a desire which is the polar opposite of KC.J blew it out his first few years in the league and then grew up...and into one of the fiercest rebounders this league has seen.In addition to that he's a leader...If someone's not doing their job,you can bet JW will get in their face.He is exactly the tonic this team needs, his motor never stops..He,also,is a bigtime enforcer.....and he is a walking quote machine...He and John Salley are the two funniest guys to come through the NBA IMO.Speaking strictly about roundball,if he has recovered...big if there..........We should sign him ASAP. ------------------ If I had my life to live over,I would have liked to have ended up as a sportswriter - Richard M. John Salley and Williams are funnier than Barkley? ------------------ President of the Anal Retentive School for Jerks Hey, I wanted to be president of something, and I swear everyone took every other presidential position already.
RR,your right...I would throw him with that group. For those who haven't checked out William's book "Loose Balls"...He talks about life and players in the NBA...many hillarious anectdotes. Salley is like flat out stand up...right off the cuff....Chuck definitely belongs, what an omission! ------------------ If I had my life to live over,I would have liked to have ended up as a sportswriter - Richard M. I dont think Williams would return to any but NJ. The Nets were under no obligation to honor Williams contract but generously decided to pay the guy anyway, that kind of loyalty would probably warrant his return to NJ. Willams is a nice guy. He would be the rebounder the Rockets need so badly but I think him coming to Houston is as improbable as his return to the NBA. ------------------
