    Taylor+Lue+Spoon for Brian Grant+Walton.

JVG gets Grant and Rudy gets Taylor sounds perfect isn't it? :)

they both off the cap after two more seasons (the year Yao becomes FA) so i won't mind trading Taylor's contract for Grant's. the Lakers got way too many serviceable SF (Odom, Butler, George, Walton, Jones) and you can even expect Kobe spending sometimes at the 3 with Rudy's "small ball". J.J. is getting old and i think Walton could be a perfect successor. Odom definely will start, Jones can't be traded for a while, so I think they'd want to trade one of the other three for a PG and I think they'd love to have Lue back in LA. the Lakers also save $5 million in the last year of Mo&Grant's last contract year. Rudy has another 2 defensive-minded PFs in Medevenko and Banks so i think he'd love to trade Grant for a better offensive PF. in the other hand, we have Juwan who's a better version of Mo so why not trade Taylor for some toughness at the 4 position, plus Grant can also play the backup 5 for us in case we don't get Mutombo.

    Yao Ming, (Grant)
    Howard, (Grant)
    Jackson, Walton/Boki
    McGrady, (Sura/JJ), Pike
    C. Ward, (Sura), Gaines

    or maybe

    Yao Ming, (Grant)
    B. Grant, Howard
    Jackson, Walton/Boki
    McGrady, (Sura/JJ), Pike
    B. Sura, Ward, Gaines

some of you might hate Walton shares Boki's min. now, but by the time JJ steps down you'd love to have a Walton/Boki combo at 3 with JJ backs up T-Mac in his last year.

I'd do it but would like them to throw in Sasha Vujacic to offset losing Lue.

I don't think LA would do that, because Grant is their main rebounder(assuming Karla doesn't come back). Devac & MoT would only get 6 boards each. 12 boards out of your starting 4 & 5 won't get you anywhere fast.

Sasha Vujacic is highly regarded by the lakers, theres noway theyre goin to throw him away just to get MoT. It would make sense for both teams though if Malone doesnt come back to the lakers. They would get a proven PF who can score and we would get a PF/C that could backup yao or even start with yao. Grant has a decent jumper and is a banger down low, but his age and durability seems like a concern. I read somewhere that he has painful airthritis(sp?) in both his knees, but plays through the pain.

I would actually prefer grant starting over howard, with howard being the scorer off the bench and grant sliding over to C when yao comes out for a rest.

This trade probably helps us more then the lakers, so they prolly wont do this trade

You are kidding if you think LA wouldnt give up their fourth string small forward and their old banged up, piece of nothing without shaq, for a 15ppg scorer in Mo (assuming he starts) and Lue, and Spoon.

The only reason they wouldnt is cap room which they wont have or need in 2 years.

I would force them to give up a num 1 pick (not likely) or Vujanic (possible), but i wouldnt want grant or walton or vujanic really, but LA would jump at this deal

We have nachbar who is >= walton
    Taylor production >>> grant production
although Taylor contract is worse than grants, we lose our only other post threat, and lue.

    no deal for us

The real question is, how many more years on Grant's contract? Don't want to be locked into his deal for too long.

We could follow this trade up by sending out Pike for Mutombo, thenI think the longest tenured Rocket would be Yao Ming, haha.

Doesn't actually sound too bad for either squad.

Grant’s contract is the same length as Taylor’s (3 years).

Take Walton and Lue out of the deal and I would make that trade.

I like this deal, but I think I'm just sentimental. I remember Brian Grant totally punking Karla when he played in Portland. And I like Walton.

BG does have an awfully big contract.

The Lakers would not do this. Even if they were interested, Grant could not be packed with other players for a trade based on NBA rules.

I don't like this because Lue is our most solid and best shooting 1. That trade hurts our current squad. Replace Lue with Gaines or this years 2nd rounder and it gets more interesting.

In terms of league rules, the trade could go down in a month or two.

Only for a few more weeks.

I strongly doubt LA would do this, but I am a big Grant fan. He just got a bigger contract than he was worth, so he gets negative press for not being an All Star. Same exact thing happened to Juwan Howard, despite the fact that he's a 17 and 7 guy.

I'd do it if they threw in Kobe or Odom.

I don't think it's likely to happen. Mo isn't much better than Medvedenko. They don't need Spoon and we need Lue as a PG who can shoot.

Than we better have someone in better than Sura or Ward, because of the three Lue is the best bet for major PG minutes.

wow some of you doesn't want Walton. you'd be regret next summer. watch his#s , he could be a potential 12/7/6 guy who can shoot, pass, and handle the ball.

start Medevenko then, Taylor has no problem to come off the bench. but Divac+Taylor might give you 30+ points out of your starting 4 & 5 as well and I think Rudy'd prefer that.

some of you also concerning trading Lue away, maybe Payton could get his wish of play in Houston ;)
wow, Yao, Grant, JJ, T-Mac, Paton starting, Howard & Sura off the bench... can we challange the Spurs now? :) ok probably still not enough:(
