As mentioned in the Chronicle awhile back, I think Skinner could give the Rockets just what they need Rebounding, Toughness, and some scoring. I liked the thought of it when it was mentioned.
I don't know how plausiable the deal can be made.

I have a feeling that he will get more than the MLE.

That being said, I am sure a few around here will try convince themselves that Milwaukee would love to do a S&T with Mo and the TE.

I was thinking more like MoT AND Wilks with the TE...

he is a nice player - but he has some injury issues. He is 6' 9-10 but he plays the C position (in the east). Good shot blocker and rebounder - but I would hate to commit too much money to him with Howard, Taylor and Spoon on the books (especially if all he does in give Yao 15-18 mins of break time every night)

Skinner wont get more than the MLE in my opinion. I see him around the 1/2 to 3/4 of the MLE type guy depending on the team. A guy like Stromile Swift however probably will get more than the MLE, probably in the 6-7M range.

There are a lot of interesting FA scenarios out there that I wouldnt mind exploring but to be honest I am hesitant to talk about them in these threads UNTIL we OFFICIALLY get McGrady and know where our roster stands and know what holes we need to fill.

They play different positions. IF the trade goes down, the biggest issue will be for a PG and backup C.

Maybe Seattle will trade us one of their three overpaid centers for Spoon.

    ditto.

I think the rox should only sign Skinner to close to the minimum, and I'd feel shaky with him being the backup center.

If all else fails, we could always bring in the badman.

Marc Blount is a FA but might be too expensive. Any thoughts?

I actually think this would be a good and realistic possibility for the Rockets. Getting either Jerome James, Calvin Booth or Vitaly Potapenko would not only provide the Rockets with a marginal but decent backup center; but it would also allow the Rockets to dump a bad contract. Keep in mind that this would be a swapping of bad contracts (a la Norris-for-Spoon deal), with each team getting a player at a need position.

I agree about a Spoon for Sonics center trade. Would make sense for both teams.
