Either one of these guys would be a great pick up for the Rockets. What do you guys think? I would love to get Barbosa but Diaw can play 5 positions. http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/118706
for a pick, like a top 10 pick. which we dont have. also, there's a random trade thread if you did not notice.
They clearly said "above or below" their current pick(s). Doesn't make much of a difference for the Rockets, though. Both players in question are BYC, so it's unlikely that anything happens. And you're right. This could have gone in the random trade thread.
It's the same thing as the Mo Williams deal... Rockets would have to make a deal on draft day, and complete it after July 1st. It can be done-- the Battier deal was completeted several days after the draft, too. I think it would be easier to get Diaw. He has the bigger contract and has been rather disappointing. The Suns, in fact, have been giving away draft picks in order to not exceed the tax threshold for last couple of years now and Diaw's contract is a big reason why. They gave up picks to dump Kurt Thomas. They gave up a pick to dump James Jones, too (which pick turned out to be Rudy Fernandez, I think).
My die hard phx fan friends hate boris diaw. he has a huge contract and is a quote "soft wussy" as for barbosa, i'd love to have the great leandrino bambino (thats his nickname in brazil), even though he has the ugliest shot in the nba. uglier than marion
I seriously doubt PHX would let go of Barbosa as he is their offense of the bench. I would strongly prefer Barbosa to the Rockets than Diaw.
No way we take on Diaw's contract. Barbosa's contract is almost as nightmarish as Jamal Crawford's. We could probably get Ben Gordon via FA for cheaper since both will end up being career backups. I would consider taking on Barbosa if they agreed to give us either Raja Bell or Grant Hill.
Yeah, you're right. I just went to the ESPN Trade Checker and saw that they were BYC and didn't even bother to give it any thought after that. I often forget that the NBA's financial calendar rolls over on July 1st, rather than the start of each season. Anyway, of the two players, I'd rather go after Barbosa. He's a killer 3pt shooter, especially spotting up as a trailer on fast breaks. He also seems to come up big when needed more often than Diaw. Plus his contract is smaller. Although it's tempting to see what Adelman could do with a versatile big with a talent for passing. Still, that contract is pretty bad for a guy who hasn't even scored in double figures since '05.
No more soft dudes, we seeing how the Fakers are getting destroyed by the tougher C's. Santoe would have done a better job. WE NEED TOUGH DUDES. Are two best players are soft.
hes right, im from/live in phx and im a pretty big fan of them too. ive gotten so frustrated and p**sed off at diaw over the last few years. he hasnt done anything worthy since he got his contract. its funny that people thought he could replace marion...
NO to Diaw. Now, Barbosa on the other hand could be of use in this team. 24th pick + BJax would be an absolute steal. I wouldn't give up Battier for him though.
We won't need Diaw unless we get rid of Hayes. He can take Hayes minutes next to Yao and feed Yao all day from the perimeter or the high post (Think Brad Miller in Adelman's system). Barbosa coming off of the bench would definitely take into consideration the loss of Bobby Jackson. I think that's a trade up there, and helps us in the long run to sure up the 1 for a couple of years. Will this happen? Only if we can unload a couple of players more than Phx, like: Hayes, Novak, Jackson, Francis AND Woods, PLUS the 1st round pick we have. Will Phx take the bait? Is it worth it for the 25th pick? He11s no!
What's interesting about this article is what they state their 3 greatest needs are: 1) A swingman that can score and play defense 2) A backup PG 3) A backup C They see themselves in exactly the same boat as the Rockets. The difference is they have a higher draft pick and more trade fodder.
There is a rumor going around that the Suns might trade Diaw for TJ Ford and the raptors 17th pick. That is a terrible trade for the Raps, their front line would just be getting softer, if they added Diaw. A Diaw trade possibility involved Toronto, where talk centered on Diaw leaving for point guard T.J. Ford and the Raptors' No. 17 pick in Thursday's draft. Talks cooled but might reignite with Porter aboard. In Porter's first season as Milwaukee's head coach, Ford helped the Bucks to a 41-41 playoff season. When Ford missed the next season after neck surgery, the Bucks went 30-52 and fired Porter. Ford, 25, is drawing interest but is a risk after having two vertebrae fused in 2004. He has three contract years worth $25 million remaining. The Raptors, run by ex-Suns President Bryan Colangelo, just bought out Jorge Garbajosa and might be looking for a versatile forward such as Diaw, who will make $9 million in each of the next four seasons. I can't believe Toronto would be looking to pay a mid 1st round pick for the privilege of swapping one bad contract for a worse one. Sounds like a bogus rumor to me.
