RB Domanick Williams (formally Domanick Davis)
(on his rehab) “It’s going good. It’s going good. I had all the time I needed, and like I said, most of the guys are checking out, I’m checking in. And I’m going to be waiting on everybody else. I’m going to do everything I have to do to get myself back on the field. And it’s going great right now.”

(on whether he is starting the 2007 season now) “Right now.”

(on whether is 100 percent yet) “I wouldn’t say 100 percent, I mean, but it’s close and it’s on its way. It’s going real good. My knee is allowing me to lift heavy weight without swelling up, and that was one of the biggest problems that I had. It’s just going great.”

(on how hard 2006 was for him) “It’s been real hard. I didn’t watch, not one game. It’s not that I didn’t care because if anybody cares I care. It was just my way of dealing with it because it would hurt me in another kind of way. I just focused on what I had to do to get myself back and then we’ll take care of it when it’s time.”

(on changing his name from Dominick Davis) “And it will be number 31, Dominick Williams. I just had to make a change. I wasn’t really a Davis the whole time, but I have kids of my own and I needed to do what was right.”

(on more on the name change) “I just changed Davis to Williams. I wasn’t really a (Davis). I was my older brother’s Dad’s last name and whatever happened I ended up with Davis. So now that I have kids of my own, a little boy and a little girl, ‘Spike’ (Dominick, Jr.) and Liana, I have to change my name to what it really is, and it’s Williams.”

I guess  I just hope he is healthy so he can produce for the team next season. Texans need him badly.

From the same link, it doesn't seem Kubiak is counting on him being around next year:

Kubiak: (on RB Domanick Davis’ role in moving forward from injured players) “I’m not just going to put it in that situation. But we did address some of our needs and along addressing those needs we counted on some things to happen and they didn’t happen. It just tells you right there you’ve got to live for the day today in this business. You’ve got to live for that week and that game and you better be operating that way because you just don’t know when those things aren’t going to happen. It can get you in a lot of trouble if you’re counting on some things that don’t take place. I feel like we can’t operate like that right now. We’ve got to move forward.”

Well hopefully D. Williams has knees that don't squeak like a rusty hinge.

Really though, it sounds like he's done and the rehab is just so he can fulfill the requirements so he can keep picking up his paycheck. I loved watching him on the field but I'd be very surprised if he was ever able to play in the NFL again.

I guess I was wrong about Mario having an impact on his teammates.

Maybe he was referring to Domanick Davis, not Domanick Williams.

Akeem Olajuwon changed his name and the Rockets won two titles. Let's see if lightning strikes twice.

Did he change his name or correct the misspelling? It sounds dumb but it's plausible since he was not from America.

It's not like Akeem went from Chris Jackson to Mahmoud Abdul Rauf.

If I recall, it was to translate more correctly to what his name meant. I think,

    found it on wiki.

    Muslim faith
During his NBA career, Olajuwon took an active interest in becoming a devout Muslim. On March 9, 1991, he altered his name to the proper Arabic spelling, saying, "I'm not changing the spelling of my name, I'm correcting it". Olajuwon was still recognized as one of the league's elite centers despite his strict observance (e.g., fasting during daylight hours) of Ramadan, which occurred during the NBA season during virtually all of his career and is usually a handicap for Muslim athletes. During the month of Ramadan, he abstained from food, drink, and water during games before sundown, in observance of daily fasting. He also gained recognition for his sportsmanship and his charitable pursuits. In 1994, after receiving his MVP award, Hakeem Olajuwon spoke at the ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) Convention. He is a hero to many Muslim youth throughout the United States.

Someone courteously correct me if I'm way off, but I think I remember him adding the "H" upon his conversion to Islam.

    I dunno guys.
He's kinda getting weird...like James Allen did when he retired to become some rapper.

And the fact that he wasn't around kinda pissed me off...where was his support? Sage Rosenfels traveled with the team after he was placed on IR so he can help Carr and teach Van Pelt.

D.D...or I guess D.W. was a rookie of the year...he should have been there for players like Chris Taylor. At least show up once in a while to show support.

I don't know if I can trust this guy....him, to me, was a little dishonest about hit knee because the Texans would have drafted Bush if they knew Dominick he was useless.

I guess he can at leasy compete for a job with Taylor, Dayne and who ever they draft.

He's a goner. This is too damn crazy.

I'm ok with Taylor over whoever this guy is.

He wasn't rookie of the year. Anquan Boldin was offensive rookie of the year in '03.

NFL Rookie of the Year? It's Cardinals' Boldin.

    COPYRIGHT 2003 South Florida Sun-Sentinal

    Byline: Charles Bricker

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. _ Eight games into the season, Anquan Boldin has caught 48 passes, run up 672 yards and is on his way to being christened the best rookie of 2003.

He also, undoubtedly, has a number of front office executives and coaches re-examining their scouting reports on this year's college talent, wondering how they misjudged him.

Several clubs in need of a wide receiver declined to snap up Boldin before the Arizona Cardinals selected him in the second round, 54th overall, and that includes the Dolphins, who took linebacker Eddie Moore with their first pick at No. 49.

He was no mystery receiver, having been extensively tracked through his senior year at Pahokee High School and watched carefully as he caught 13 touchdown passes in his final year at Florida State.

I believe it was when he became a practicing Muslim. IIRC Hakeem has always been Muslim.

Chris Jackson is just a simple typo of Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.
