I've been seeing this Houston Wildcats headline for a few days now, so why don't we just capitulate: #13 -- Loren Woods #18 -- Richard Jefferson #23 -- Gilbert Arenas Arenas may not be appropriate, but the chemistry might be awesome. ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils.
That team couldn't beat Oregon and you expect them to beat...the Los Angeles Lakers? ------------------ Mmm Queso.
I have heard reports that Arenas is climbing on teams draft charts, and he would be a good combo guard, but this team doesn't need another undersized guard. If the Rockets got those 3 players, minus Arenas plus Cisse, I'd be ecstatic. ------------------
I heard same thing about Arenas. ------------------ Rarely is the question asked: Guns kill squirrels than REDRUM to fools across the nation?
EGQ: Even the mighty Lakers lost some games, too. While this scenario was posted tongue-in-cheek, it is not at all unrealistic. Each of these three players has been rumored to be taken by someone on or before the slot I indicated. The selection of this trio is entirely realistic--losses to Oregon notwithstanding. The valid question is how desireable it would be. My suggestion was inspired by the recent constant headline about Houston Wildcats and the criticism I see posted here on Houston's tendency to seek "chemistry" picks over what some consider more "athletic" picks with greater potential. ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils.
I heard that Arenas is slipping because he measured in at 6'1.5". That is not an adequate size for a two guard unless it is Iverson. ------------------ Stevierebel
How about the Terp connection with Walt, Stevie, and Morris. And then try to draft another of their seniors in the 2nd round. ------------------ Never Underestimate the Heart of a Champion
Arenas 6-2 or not, has game... Great 3 pt shooter, great penetrator, great in transition... And he's an adequate defender... Besides, does size REALLY matter all that much if you can play zone defense? I really doubt that he'll be left in the position to be playing interior defense... Granted you would like him to be taller, but pound for pound I think he's the best SG in the draft... I think he and Forte are about equal, but I would give a slight edge to Arenas because he has more athleticism... ------------------ "Awesome baby!" Dick Vitale
Arenas's game reminds me a lot of Iverson's game. Granted I know he's not as good as Iverson, but he has the same demeanor to score, the same hard-nosed style of ball. I think he can become a productive starting 2 guard in this league if he is put into a good situation. Utah and Sacramento would be great places for him. They actually have a shot at getting him, too. I wouldn't be suprised if the Rockets picked him up at #23. He'd be insurance if Moochie didn't resign, and if Moochie does resign (which will probably happen), ship him off to Sac among others in a sign and trade. ------------------
