Thanks to dmorey we lost our 3rd star chandler parsons just like he did to dragic. No doubt Dmorey is a great recruiter but he dosent know how to keep and value his players. I wont be surprised that harden and dwight will leave in the future bcos no player will be loyal if the gm makes them feel they are tradable or that its all "bussiness". Parsons was so ready to be loyal and willing to give his heart and soul for the team. But the genius dmorey is always open to trade him. He dosent have to make his key players feel that its all bussiness bcos some players if you want your players to be loyal and stay
I'd neg rep you if I could because you're totally wrong. Morey made a move to benefit Parsons and to try for loyalty. Parsons opted to get paid the max by Dallas. We could've held on to him for another year getting paid less than $1mm, but we let him hit free agency so we could resign him to a contract that was more in line with his production. We didn't trade Parsons. He left in free agency, and Houston made the right move not to match Dallas' offer. Letting him leave for free agency was a gesture of good faith that Parsons didn't accept.
Thought I'd make a few corrections for you: Doesn't (spelling) bc (abbreviation to because rather than bcos) Trade able or trade-able (spelling) Business (spelling)
So you're ok with going to battle with Howard, Harden, and Parsons surrounded by a bunch of D-League talent, and over-the-hill vets for the next 3 seasons?? Because that's EXACTLY what you would get. We'd be completely capped out with no room for flexibility if we had matched.
Would you guys be willing to pay 15 mil a year for Kawhi Leonard right now? Serious question, looking at our team and how he would be a perfect fix next to Harden.
Morey makes a great point when he said that if we matched that contract, we would be stuck with that roster. Although he is still the one that turned down that team option... Oh well, stop crying about it. It happened. Move on.
The root of the problem is Rox has a cheap owner. Morey will be Rox's GM forever as long as he can find cheap serviceable role players, trade them away when they get expensive and keep Rox relatively competitive so les can sell tickets. Rox made third most money in the NBA last year, right? That is what Les care the most. Winning a championship is NOT the first priority.
Parsons wanted money, not a bigger role, that's all fluff he's told say. Forget him. What does he think he's option #1 in Dallas, lol. Okay.
Why is this thread here? Anyways, DM is more of a speculator than a General Manager of a professional basketball team.
Dude, you realize Dallas is now paying more to Chandler Parsons than we are to Harden! I loved CP25 but after Bosh turned us down, it wasn't financially feasible to lock up our cap space in a Harden/Howard/ Parsons trio that would be a perennial first or second round exit. I'm fine with Morey trying to find a third star or *GASP* filling out the team with quality role players (Ariza is a good start)
If Morey truly treating him like an asset like you say he did, than Morey would have not made him a restricted free agent this year. He could have told Parsons to suck it up and kept him on for one more year on his rookie contract. Every free agent except Lebron has taken the big money. Both GMs and Players make business decisions, it goes both ways. Stop crying and move on.
