    1/8 - 111 points against Knicks (13th defense)
    1/11 - 97 points against Boston (18th defense)
    1/13 - 93 points against Washington (15th defense)
    1/14 - 95 against Boston (18th defense)
    1/17 - 95 against Minnesota (8th defense)

That's 98.2 points per game (which would fall at 4th in the league).

5 games in a row with over 90 points... we have an offense! I know that this doesn't mean we are going to be able to score against the top Western Conference teams on a regular basis, but it is clear that the offense is improving. At the beginning of the season the team was struggling to play 4 solid quarters of offense against ANY team. On average, the offense would break down completely due to bad shooting or passing for at least one to two quarters in every game. Now we are at least taking care of things, both offensively and defensively, against teams that we should beat.

I don't consider the win today a milestone, but I do consider it the cherry on top of 4 wins in 5 games that were played well. It gets a little harder the next two weeks, but we have something to build on.

    Go Rockets.

    DocRobert,

Thanks for posting those #s. Offense is starting to look good.

Maybe the JVG and Ewing bashers will end up eating their crow if we keep this up. :)

Now for the typical Rockets upchuck following a nationally televised game...

The Memphis game is nationally televised as well, on TNT. So is the upcoming Knicks game on ESPN and the upcoming Pacers game on ESPN.

    Or Shiite.

I really wish I'd been able to watch this game... stupid work!! The improved offense is really encouraging. I'm sure there were still a contingent of stupid mistakes, but we're takin' steps. Steps forward! Actual steps forward!! HA HA HAAAA!

Crushing the "mighty unstoppable KG4MVP" T-Wolves feels great. Eat it, poopchutes!!

I, too, am worried about the dreaded Rockets "game after" suckfest, but then again, I've been worried about it for the last COUPLE games... Right now I'm just going to enjoy this one. I'd advise everyone to do the same!

Rocks were just simply amazing, I wonder if it's got something to do with showtime on national TV or what? Stevie had one of the best game ever with Sam on his nose, still so many open shots.

Rockets will definitely give a lot of problem in the wild wild west!!

    overreacting much?

solid win. a few too many TO's, but a good game nonetheless. it's awesome seeing the rockets' O stepping it up like they have of late.

let's hope they can keep it up.

Back to the offense. Seems like they have something going here. Obviously establishing Yao early is crucial. But you know how there was a thread about starting Padgett over Cato to stretch the defense. That seemed to make perfect sense but Van Gundy obviously knew better, stuck with Cato and Cato played great. 5/7 is awesome, so what if 3 are dunks and the other one is a bank shot that I don't know if he meant to bank. Using Cato in those pick and roll situations was good, and it didn't jam up the post area either.

Maurice Taylor deserves a lot of credit. He come in, scores buckets, rebounds, and then sits down. He's really playing his role. Also, he's pretty good and getting it inside to Yao too.

Cat had a bad night statistically (6/18) but I didn't notice that in the flow of the game, I thought he was okay.

Francis was good. But the palming violations, the double dribbles, and the dribbling into a corner and forced to take a time out... but I mean it seems like he's adjusting.

Nachbar though... was kind of a liability tonight. His hands are no good, and he's not really fit (a little bit of man boob action, am I the only one to have noticed this?) and hence not explosive. Can't really create his own shot. He should just hone his jumper.

The only thing I didn't like about the offense was Steve's getting too envolved with the refs. He lets the refs get him out of his game too many times.

One of the improvements I noticed is Yao holding onto a rebound in a crowd better. He actually took rebounds away from the opposition a couple of times.

You know whats even better than that?

If you had watched carefully...you would have seen Yao actually leaping off the floor to snag some of those rebounds...not only did he leap off the floor more than just a couple of inches....but he did it aggressively..

Someone put a bee in our man's bonnet last week.....and I LIKE IT!.

    :D

That "B"ee would be Brendan Haywood with his flagrount foul of Yao. Yao realizes now that players are gonna hurt him no matter how nice he is so it's time to dish out the pain. I'm sure he believes in an eye for an eye. Did you notice that Yao was shuffling his feet while defending the perimter also? Looked kind of weird such a big guy having so much movement out there on the perimeter

Well it's not personal. Guys are just using Shiite as a pun off of ****. It's kind of like saying, "I don't give a (Hoover) damn."
