I guess most of the astute members of this board already realize that not only are we overrun with 2's, 3's, and soft 4's; but we also only have one center. Unless Malick comes back and plays like the second coming of KG we need not only a back_up 5, but we also need a back_up 4 that is on the 'mean' side. Last year when Cato went out, for ten days, the Rox cratered. We better not shoot our wad on a PG. I'm sure this must have occurred to CD/JVG. Will Malick come on down? Is there anyone, that we can afford, who can replace the defensive versatility of Cato? When I looked at the FA's there were few C/F combo's. Chris Mihm (sp?) looks affordable, Mark Blount does not. Also, we can't just add a couple of players. We just did 4 for 3, so even if Mark Jackson doesn't come back, we are still even. Don't we have to get rid of some others to fill the 4 and 5?
In due time. First thing is first. At PG we have: Wilks, Jackson and Lue At PF we have: Howard and Taylor Now, if you look at the talent at each position, it's clear that we CAN NOT have Wilks (or Jackson) leading the PG position. Howard and Taylor can hold the ship for now (Brand is not available; maybe next year). So, first thing is first: Getting a better point guard. If we can get Dampier. Do it. But not at the expense of NOT getting Barry or Arroyo.
PG should be our first target and then a physical/athletic 4/5. I want to know that do we have the 5.1 million MLE and the 1.7 million exception in addition to the TE?
Why? because you didnt think of it? I think he makes good points. Its a heck of a lot better than reading all the other crap that has been on here in the aftermath of the T-Mac trade. Now, for my two cents. If we have a PF duo of Taylor and Howard, the defense HAS to be honest rather or not our starting PF is in the game. That is the major benefit I see to having those guys at the Power spot. Could we use our "banger" tough guy at the back-up center, You need a bully? Call um up and let him do your dirty work? Does anyone think that will work?
I thought something had happened. This is just a thread restating what everybody on the planet already knows. Why? because you didnt think of it? No Sofine because there have been a billion posts just like this.
Well, if "DocRocket" or one of the MANY great insiders had typed up the exact same stuff this would be a HUGE tread. What do you care if this guy types what he feels on this message board? Is it putting you out? Who told you, you had to read it?
I thought that was what a BBS was for. The point I was trying to make was that we can't just sign some FA's, can we? We are going to have to trade some contracts. How do you do that URFA? How do we use that TE, then? Give me some ideas. I am not smart enough to be a GM or Mgr. I know these things have been discussed, but there still seems to be questions in my mind.
Blame Tom Hanks. He's the one that coined Houston with problems. When it's used over and over again and with some lame minor issues, I am getting tired of it. When we win a NBA championship next time, we need to have Hanks to come over and say "Houston, the problem is over!" for us.
Ouch, did I just make some mistake that makes look dumb? If I did............ Being dumb and getting slaughtered is a virtue on the BBS, you know?
eh, a scrub center will be ok, when yao is out, tmac can just go and do his thing, he can do it 20 minutes a game instead of the full 48 and hopefully produce better quality.
Well, it's all about credibilty...for example, if Hans Blix, or David Kay says that Iraq has no weapons of mass destruction it carries more weight than if, say, this dude calls a press conference to announce his thoughts on WMD's: I don't have a problem with any ideas, but I think we all need to chill out a little bit. The OP is a bit on edge about the roster since it's, you know, July. I never thought anybody would in such a panic about replacing Kelvin Cato. We're talking about Cato, man. Cato. Etan Thomas, or Brian Skinner will replace him nicely.
As long as we have this guy doing this the only problem Houston is going to have is getting him the ball.
I don't mean to derail this thread, but Howard the Duck is easily the most important film in American History.
