With all these teams wheeling and dealing and being real aggressive this offseason, one team you would seldom see involved in trade talks are the Rockets. This makes me think Morey is after a superstar and just waiting for the right time to pounce. We have the best collection of role players, quality stars, and future 1st round draft assets. So with us being under the radar so far given all the valuable trade chips we possess would seem Morey is definitely going for a homerun.
I heard that morey might be trying to acquire Danny Granger, the original plan was to also involve Al Jefferson, but i looks as if the T-wolves are dealing him to Utah
isnt that pretty much the whole idea behind being "predatory"? This is pretty much what morey hinted at the whole season. We definitely dont have cap space, so you can take any large FA signings out the window. You can also almost rule out any moderate trades, since those usually bring in role players/semi-stars and we have more than enough of those and therefore those moves arent going to improve our teams significantly. That pretty much leaves minor FA signings (except for MLE), minor trades, and huge trades as options. The first two are the most likely. The third is not likely, but possible after the smoke settles, but it'll only be done if it significantly upgrades a position for us.
This offseason for us is awfully quiet... which means theres gonna be a trade announced soon! I hope
Basically, if you guys heard about it then it's not true... Morey is the Ninja GM.... By the time you hear about it, it's already done.
Houston made it very clear that they wanted Bosh,so it's clear we are not under the radar. Being predatory and going for the right fit(talent),without busting the bank is the way to go.
Well I hope he is planning on acquiring a star player under the radar, because with all these great teams getting good players is pissing me off. Now Im starting to doubt him. But as I recall last seasons trade deadline I grew weary of morey but then...SPLASH. We got Kevin Martin out of no where.
Or, it could mean that they don't want to do anything dumb just to acquire an overpriced or overrated player. I figure if they do acquire someone, it's because they figured out a smart move for the team. And if they don't, they're playing it smart with with what they've got. The Rockets seem to do a lot of the "what's the next smart move to make and when's the time to be smart by not making a move." I like that style, even though it's not always splashy and even though I'm one of those kind of antsy fans who keeps thinking I want to see a move made...but I also know getting what I wish for is not always the best thing to happen. I'll put my faith in the Rockets decision makers, whichever direction they go. For now, under the radar is cool.
Going after a free agent who has no ties or vested interest in another team is different than trying to work out a trade. It made sense to be vocal and obvious about our pursuit of Bosh because of the situation with wanting to let him know he was our 'one and only.' As far as trades go, every one of them that has been pulled off by Morey has stayed relatively under wraps until the day of. For the most part. And media within Houston have never broken the story first (insert joke about Houston's sports media here). But I believe that is mostly because Morey does a good job of keeping Houston front office on a need to know basis.
We're so under the radar, we may be buried watching other teams make big moves and improve while Morey runs around giving away iPads to millionaires. Damn you Morey, damn you to hell. (how's that for proof Clutchfans hasn't been taken over by the Rockets?)
seriously? Morey is doing his best, it's not his fault Bosh already decided to go to the Heat for like 2 years now.
In the NBA it sucks to be under the radar. Maybe in the NFL or MLB it's good, you get a chip on your shoulder. But this is David Stern's league we're talking about here. You gotta be waaay over the radar to have a chance. Under the radar = no calls. Over the radar = refs cast Whistle Aura on you. Better not breathe heavy near the Heat this year. When was the last time an under the radar team won it all? Detroit in 2004? They were still a top 4 team if I recall correctly. Rockets in 1994 or Spurs in 1998? I guess so. The odds aren't good let me put it that way.
at this point ill take anybody just to have 1 or 2 minutes of happiness that the4 rockets did something this offseason
maybe morey is trying to resing scola and lowry, and once they are signed he will have a much better set of cards to deal with to aquire an all-star.
he (Morey) recently hinted that his next move will be for a superstar player, he knows that we dont need anymore great role players and hes going to unload a couple of them with a pick or 2 to get that guy ala Ron Artest.. we may have to wait til the teade deadline for it but we'll be getting someone major within this next yr
so both teams that make trades always improve? dang im surprised you dont see teams do 50 trades a season then
