My dad needs to get to Dallas, and then other parts of the country. Well, he really needs to head towards kentucky and was going to take 59, but there was major damage that is blocking off roads near Lufkin, so he can't go that way. Anyone in Dallas that may have any info on how the roads along the way are doing? Thanks.

I could go 290 (up to hempstead) to 6(through College Station Bryan) to 35(Waco) .

    great suggestion...

it's about 2.5 hours to Waco that way..then you catch 35 to Dallas for another 1.5 hours or so.

Plus, you get to stop at Health Camp!

BTW, on my trip, I've gone through two Wacos.

We took I-35 from Dallas to Waco then Hwy 6 thru Bryan/ College Station to Houston on Saturday.
Traffic going South was moderate. Traffic going North was very light.
There was gas in Bryan but not much along the main traffic flow.
Gas was plenty in Waco and further North.

Remember this was Saturday so things might have changed.

Thanks everyone. Assuming there's no traffic, my car (which my dad will have) will definately make it a long way before he needs to refuel. Full tank, should be plenty of gas along the way if necessary.
