I'll be honest, I was on the reggie bush bandwagon that one year we had the number 1 pick and was on the adrian peterson one this past year (I was wishing the Texans would find a way to trade up for him), but if it were up to me to pick players for the draft I probably wouldn't fare that well to build a decent franchise. In any case we all have a wishlist of players we would want our team to draft or certain scenarios we would want to happen during draft day so I figure I'd make one of my own.

I'm still learning some of the players that are going into this draft and perhaps some of yall might have more insight so I'd be happy to see what your wishlist or perfect scenario would look like with comments.

    These are mines:

For the first round I would want Phillips if available then draft a RB in the 3rd round (Rice, Smith, Choice) in that order

If Phillips is not available I would want Stewart in the first and a corner or safety in the third

If we could somehow get a second round pick this year without losing any other draftpicks I would want a Zibikowski/ best corner in the first, best RB available in the 2nd and a LT in the third.

Any of those situations would make me happy.

By the way I was the same guy who said if the Texans drafted Peterson and Kolb in last years draft that I would move to Houston. Well Houston got neither but I still made the move. :D

Kenny Phillips would also be might first choice. I think he is going be have a great combine so he won't there at 18th. My 2nd choice would be either tackles Sam Baker or Reggie Smith. I don't want to see another season with Ephraim Salaam as a starter. I am not a bag fan of Aqib Talib. I wouldn't draft a RB untill the 2nd day. This draft is very DEEP at running back and good ones will go late. Someone like Tashard Choice, Allen Patrick, Ryan Torain, or Cory Boyd. I think the biggest needs are LT, S, CB, DE and LB.

I wish we could trade down a few spots and still nab Limas Sweed in the first round. We need a legit second receiver to pair with Andre. Sweed would be a perfect complement, and Jacoby Jones in the slot with those two would be killer.

After that, with the extra pick (hopefully a second or third rounder), draft the best OLineman and then Safety available.

I really do think that Bennett is gonna end up being a good corner. I think we'll be alright for half a season with Bennett and Faggins.

I think Demps is gonna be a good fit for us, we just need another man in the secondary.

Jonathan Stewart is my first pick, but I wouldnt be too upset if they went defense. I'd love them to grab Aqib Talib or Malcom Jenkins if they went for a corner.

Thanks for the input. You think we still have a need at DE, LB over RB? I thought we had decent if not above average DE in Williams and Weaver? how bout LB? Demeco is a stud and Greenwood is at least average. I want to see Diles play in his second year.

I do agree LT, S and CB is some of our weakest links but I would put RB in there as well. I like that this front office can find gems in the later rounds but to be honest I would like to see them go after a RB like Stewart in the first round if Phillips is no available. We've drafted well the last 2 drafts by thinking defense and have stocked good talent on that side of the ball.

However, I think a workhorse running back that could make his own plays would help the o line tremendously. The opposition would play honest defense knowing that the Texans have a threat in the backfield as well. On top of that the offense would have the opportunity to run the clock more letting the defense rest on the sideline for most of the game. Our o-line is improving and with a little help from a good RB we could see much improvement.

I would be happy if we ended up with Rice, Smith or Choice but would be ecstatic if we got Stewart, Mendehall, or Jones and would be downright giddy if we got Mcfadden. I don't know too much about the other RB's you mentioned but I'll look at there scouting reports. Thanks again for your input.

they gotta et a rb, they cannot go into the season with another late round draft pick as the starter. They need a big time player. I think the needs #1 RB and #2 S #3 cb. I like the way bennett played last season and I hope dunta can come back to his old form. The oline is not the biggest concern. They allowed the 7th fewest sacks in the league last season

One problem, Malcolm Jenkins is staying at Ohio State for his senior year!

Yes, Talib showed his mettle in the Orange Bowl game and helped to forge a big win for Kansas! I think Kuby will continue to work to beef up the D because, we're STILL not good enough on D. Whether going with DL, OLB or secondary.

We have two main problems. We bog down in the red zone (so, need more speed from RB, to offset Dayne and provide needed energy and provide Schaub more options in the red zone and make us less predictable) and we have an inconsistent D that looked good against mostly cupcake teams and got schooled by playoff teams (another DE, and/or OLB plus, beef up secondary BIG TIME!)

They got Alex Gibbs now. Any running back is a good running back in his system.

I think we still need a edge rusher opposite Mario. Weaver is a defensive tackle playing end. Someone like a Marcus Howard of Georgia or Johnny Dingle of West Virginia. Someone who would come in on 3rd downs and only job is to get to the QB. Greendwood and Ryans are solid at LB but they still need one more player. Diles gets a look good comments from Kubiak but I think he is more of MLB. I think with Alex Gibbs coming in, you could plug in a RB and have success. He is a great coach and look at what he did in ATL and Denver. Darius Walker showed some promise last year and Chris Taylor is coming back off his ACL injury. I think they are more holes than RB like LT, S, and CB that should be addressed first. Also the free agent class at RB is solid with players like Michael Turner, Julius Jones, Justin Fargas, Mewelde Moore, LaBrandon Toefield, and Musa Smith.

CB, Tackle, Center, Safety, DE, RB

Those are our five main positions of need, probably in that order. I think in the first round we'll take the best available out of those, but look long and hard at all CB's available. Wouldn't be surprised if they traded down or out of the first round all together to pick up extra picks.

God forbid they take another d-lineman in the first round, but I could see that happening too. Kalu is aging, and Weaver and Cochran weren't all that effective.

I know everyone wants a premiere running back, but I think that is the least of our needs. I think Dayne will be brought back for cheap, and between him, Walker, and Taylor I think we're okay. Not counting anything Ahman Green can give us.

    1. Trade down and pick up a 2nd Round pick
    2. Kenny Phillips- Elite safety prospect
    3. Ryan Clady- We should have solidified a LT long ago
    4. Felix Jones- I like Jones more than Stewart

Kenny Phillips is the man! I did a group project with him all throughout this past semester, lol. Great guy, very low-key and I hope he slips as far to Houston. The "quarterback of the defense" would be a perfect fit!

I'm not truly a Texans fan (nor any specific NFL team for that matter), but I think I'd be tempted to follow them closely if they got KP. I already have rooting interest in DeMeco.

my wish list would start by convincing jake plummer to retire from his team hand ball league and join the texans( backing up schaub). Then,I would trade sage for an early 3rd round draft choice, and I would make the following picks:

    1st round :CB
    3rd round :RB
    3rd Round :OT
    4th round : DE
they, the experts, tell me that a good speed rusher can be had in the 4th round....so i would groom that player to take over weaver's spot and move weaver to DT, where he belongs. this is my fantasy wishlist :D

I don't know what kind of system Gibbs run but Choice would be a good choice for a running back. I heard he is a zone runner. I hope Gibbs system is similar to Kubes because if the oline has to learn a new system again they're going to go through some growing pains again. Does anyone have a link to a scouting report on Choice?

as for rb's, i actually like a combo of walker/green/ and hopefully taylor

i think we def need to help our secondary out, but if there is a dlineman on the board that is rated higher, why not, having a dominant dline would be just fine with me

Just draft a franchise left tackle. I've been wanting one for 6 years now. Please draft a franchise left tackle.

Gibbs is the Godfather of the ZBS. The past two seasons we have been running a hybrid of a ZBS and Power Blocking scheme because of Kubiak (ZBS) and Sherman (Power). We are dropping the power and are going to run a pure ZBS system which is what Kubiak is used to.

Wow, GODFATHER OF ZBS? Does that mean he invented it or perfected it? In that case I would be more than satisfied if we got a really good ZBS running back in the draft even in the 3-4 round.

I have a new question? Who is the running back that would BEST fit the ZBS in this draft? I've heard Choice is a good in this scheme. Anyone else better than him?
