    @Colts
    Chargers @ Home
    @Jacksonville
    @Jets
    Titans @ Home
    @Philly
    Ravens @ Home
    @Tennessee
    @Denver
    Jacksonville at home

    Ryans is out for the season.

    The playoffs mean 6-4 the rest of the season
    Where do those wins come from.

    Can Gary get the hyped for Indy again?
    I think they can beat the Chargers. I still say Sweep the Jags
    and at least Split with the Titans.
    Denver is a possible win. After that . . .they will have to STEAL ONE
    I think Philly is a good possibility or a Sweep of the Titans.

    I say they sweep Jacksonville, beat San Diego, Denver and Tennessee once

    I think the other win comes from the Jets game (I have a feeling for some reason).

    We beat the Colts 50-47 then sweep Tennessee and Jax along with a win in Denver...10-6.

    4-6 sounds about right. The strength of the team, the linebackers, just became a weakness with this spate of injuries. The line is really disappointing and the secondary is historically bad. Test-your-faith-in-the-essential-goodness-of-life bad. The problem with young secondaries is that a bad start like this could stay with them.

    The Texans are a very shaky 4-2 team. Playing a UofH style defense, their differential is -14. How weird is that when the 2-4 Chargers are +31 and even the 1-5 Lions are +6?

    I think the Texans will be lucky to finish 8-8. Wouldn't be surprised to see them go 1-7 or 2-6 coming out of the bye before winning their last 2 games (unless the players quite on Kubiak).

    On offense, I think Kubiak has to completely junk the idea of the Texans being a run-first team. The offense is at it's sharpest when Shaub has fire in his eye and attacks the defense. The run should be used to set up the pass instead of to establish a tempo. If Kubiak can't see this, he is blind as a bat.

    I think it's hard to predict anything with this team.

    I wouldn't be any more surprised to see them win out than to lose the rest of their games.

    If we make a trade or pick up someone to help our secondary/defense then I say we win 10 or 11. But if we don't, 8-8 sounds about right...

    Exactly, which means no progress, stuck in neutral, much to do about nothing, etc.

    That's how I feel.

    This team is as clear as mud. One minute, it's another blowout with awful defense...the other it's stellar offense winning the game.

    The Texans in the 4th quarter are nails....so many TD's.

    This is seriously underrated. The Texans do well in pressure situations, game winning drives, improbably come from behinds. If the defense could just rise from high school JV level to just mediocre we'd be in business.

    i see that remaining schedule and wince.... that is a brutal remaining stretch of games. all i know is if the front office is serious in making the playoffs this year they need to prove it by doing something - ANYTHING - to improve this defense, especially now that demeco is gone.

    Is there any way to practically and significantly improve this defense through trade or other means?

    It just seems like too much to fix and overcome.

    trading for Nnamdi Asomugha would be the closest thing to turning the defense around. He is the single greatest cover corner in the NFL. The Texans should be listening to almost any demand from Oakland for him. I would offer this year's 1st rounder, next year's 2nd rounder, and Owen Daniels, maybe Steve Slaton

    That would be big but what about the DL and now the LB position?

    That's kind of my point. I worry that not even an upgrade of that magnitude would be enough for this level of suck.

    We need DL help as well as at LB now, esp. given that there are some unknowns with Cushing. Even if Cushing returns to full beast mode, we're now thin at LB which was an area of strength at one time.

    And what about the defensive coaches? Is that yet another layer of problems?
