Saturday 7pm Channel 106 (Houston Comcast) Weather @ Kickoff: High 50's Line: Southern Miss -3.5 over/under 65.5 I smell an upset. Who's with me  Coogs 34 Southern Miss 31
If we bomb this game, at least the Tech game will still be exciting simply for in-state reasons. It does suck to go from hoping to bust the BCS to barely making a bowl, but hey, the good part is this will put the kibosh on Sumlin's potential suitors.
Do you think the Coogs will ever get the idea they need a defense? Got a new coordinator but still no defense.
Who knows. The defense is just terrible. The players aren't good and the coaches aren't getting the job done. There should be some major changes on that side of the ball this off-season. Kevin Sumlin got a lot of credit early last season but since that Texas Tech game last season this team has been pretty bad and it starts with him.
Ever notice how non-BCS teams rarely have a defense? Defense is more about talent/skill, and not scheme. It's easier to recruit an offense, so we roll with what we got. ECU gave up 60+ points to Rice today. ECU has one of the "best" defenses in CUSA...
this was true for a while, but they've been awful the past 2 years. people run all over them with regularity.
In 2008 they had the #1 defense in CUSA. In 2009 they had the #3 defense in CUSA. Now they have the last ranked defense in all of FBS. Holy crap. What happened???
From BCS busters to not going to a bowl game. If you told me before the season we would win only 5 games I would think you were crazy. We're going to get blown out next week in Lubbock but I guess Piland gets to pad those stats a little more.
Anything can happen, Tech isn't exactly having a stellar year either. This is the best chance we've had to win a game since Memphis.
I guess on the bright side Sumlin isn't going anywhere. He hasn't proven squat....other than riding Keenum and Briles' players. We will see what he does with his players. Briles' guys are gone after this year.
It's a real shame that Leach didn't get fired after Briles left. He sounds very complimentary and knowledgable about Houston football. Would love to have him on staff, somehow.
