to invite china national team to have their pre warming up training for the world championship in houston for a week.

It was also siad this is part of the promotion that Houston compete for 2012 Oplympics and Yao is looking for a translater, most likely would be a US nattive honkie, to help Yao improve his professional English.

Houston would do this to show the world that there interest is not only Houston but the world. It would let the Chinese know that not only Ming would be treated well, but so would the Chinese Nation Team. If true i think this is an excellent idea.

Very cool! I am glad they are trying to do this.

And to me the MAIN reason the Rockets would do this is it would BRING MING INTO HOUSTON before the World Championships in August. He could meet the team and they could do the "press conference" thing with Ming holding his Jersey and do the contract signing. It would be a good way to keep Ming in the Houston Media's eye so they don't have to wait until October to see him.

    www.dictionary.com

hon·ky or hon·kie also hon·key Pronunciation Key (hôngk, hng-)
    n. Offensive Slang pl. hon·kies, also hon·keys
Used as a disparaging term for a white person.

Guess that's the only one, although it really doesn't offend me.

I hope MING comes with the team. It would be cool.

The Rockets players should take this as an oppertunity to introduce themselves to Yao and make him feel welcome.

Tell you what, when you guys can bust out Chinese to tell our foreign posters here about Yao and do it without mistakes, then you can criticize their English. Until then, give the guy a break.

    Thanks.

It is a great idea. A few days ago, I suggested in anothe thread Rocket to invite the China national team to participate a summer league with Houston coaching. I wonder why not joining a summer league... I guess the publicity will be even better when the Chinese national team is here.
