i looked around and didn't see a thread about this. i apologize in advance if i just happened to look over it. anyway, i know the rockets are practicing in austin, tx this week. does anyone have any idea exactly where they are practicing? is there any possibility that i may be able to see them? i go to UT so i'm here in austin. it excites me to know that the rockets are somewhere in the same city as me as of now. thanks in advance.
They are on the UT campus, but the exact location is not known and it is MOST DEFINITELY closed to the public.
The Rockets are practicing at the Cooley Pavilion on UT Campus. Well, it's technically not on the main campus, but it's next to the Erwin Center. Practices are closed to the public. I am sure the guys might go out at night, so you could probably catch them there. Additionally, they are probably staying at one of 4 hotels - the downtown Hilton, Omni, Four Seasons, or the Driskill, with the Four Seasons probably being the leading candidate. The CBA states that the teams must stay in 5 star hotels, so it's either the Four Seasons or the Driskill.
According to Jon in Chron.com, Austin is in the Spurs area, Rox's practice can not be openned. You can ask him again if you want. Spurs's practice should be open for everyone, I saw it in UT before.
what time are they practicing and getting out of practice? anyone one know how willing they would be to sign some autographs?
I can't imagine the Spurs would open their training camp practices to the general public. I've never heard of ANY team doing that. What would prevent another team from sitting in on every practice and learning all the plays? No matter whose area it is, practices are closed to the public for good reason.
