Since Austin has been having get-togethers, Clutch and I spoke over the weekend about a Houston one. Clutch really wants to come down to Houston for it and we'd love to have Austinites for it as well. I'm thinking a BIG one. Because of the holidays and prior obligations I have, the best day I can see is January 19th - a Friday vs. the Lakers! Now, obviously, any of us in Houston can do one's during the week anytime which is cool by me, but the one in January gives us time to REALLY plan out a big event. For example, we could actually get a viewing party together and clear out a section of a pizza place and even provide food at a couple of bucks per person. Fortunately, after this campaign, I have first-hand experience at planning events (not by choice!!! ), and, because the game is being televised locally, it wouldn't be hard to find a place. I think it woudl be cool to get a whole bunch of us BBS'ers together that Friday. The game isn't until 9:30pm, so you Austin guys could actually work most of the day and then drive down for the game. This could be a BIG blowout of epic proportions. The city would never be the same! Post your thoughts here. mc mark: I'm cool with Wednesday the 27th but we can't make that the BIG night like the 19th of January. A get together on the 27th is fine, but the big one will have to be on a weekend so guys who live in Austin can make it - like Clutch. I'm on days that weekend, but I was planning to take a vacation day on the 20th. So if I can get the Saturday off, I'll be there. No way I can make it to work at 4 in the morning if I am at the bash late Friday night! For the one in January, I was hoping for a non-bar atmosphere so that kids can come if someone wants to bring them. I could probably do the 19th of Jan, and maybe even the 27th of Dec (so I could give mc mark some acting tips). All right, guys. I'm definitely in. As far as a place, I think I've got one. It's a place called Texadelphia. It is a restaurant/sports bar, but kids are more than welcome, and won't seem out of place. It has big screens, and big party rooms, as well, so wwe could get one of those. If this sounds like a good possibility, let me know. I know the G.M. very well, and would be able to get a good deal for it, providing we get a decent estimate on how many will attend. Well, if Texadelphia sounds cool for January, I don't mind setting it up there. Maybe give it a few days to see what the attendance might be and then talk to the G.M. I really don't think it will be much trouble at all, and I can get some good deals on a couple of the menu items, as well as maybe throwing in soft drinks. Spirits, I'm afraid, will probably be at normal price but I'll see what I can do. If this sounds like a go, Jeff, give me the word and I'll start putting it together.
