Are the commercials that espn 790 the most annoying, rude, and obnoxious to everyone else. I find them completely lame, inane and indecipherable.
the only one i remember is the "real men of ESPN 790" where they mock miller lite commercials with Charlie Palillo or something, pretty funny imo SR610 do have constant ads even when the announcers do it live, its annoying as hell cause i know they dont like saying it.
The "real sports animal genius" thing is really, REALLY lame. I hate those, I change the station whenever they come on.. they're that bad.
SA790 at midnight = 5 1/2 straight minutes of Self Promotion. Then they have JT The Brick. I tried switching over during a break during the Rick Balou show, but god damn, I was back to listening to Dana Stewart and her forgetting about anything that was wrong and her singing on 610.
790 does do a lot of self promotion, but you have to admit the quality of programming is so much better on 790. 610 has been vey dissapointing lately. John and Lance are tolerable. Matt and Adam are good, they provide a good show, but I have completely stopped listening to Marc and Rich. They dont talk sports. They go complete segments without talking sports or engaging in useless banter between themselves. If I wanted to listen to what movies Rich has seen or how he feels about President Bush I wouldnt be listening to sports radio. Charlie is the best this city has. It is no wonder why he left.
i don't have to admit that. that show that 790 has on in the morning is the cheesiest thing i've ever heard. so goofy. i can't believe there's a sports radio show like that outside of Waco, Texas. sound effects...banter with the girl....it's just silly. 610's morning show is tons better...and it has a local flavor, which is why i listen, for the most part, anyway. i agree that charlie is good. i agree that marc and rich leave something to be desired.
The sports animal genius commercials are horrendous. Worst commercials ever. A) They're not funny, B) They don't even sound like the commercials they're trying to spoof, and C) They're really not funny.
It seems like every week a thread comes up that morphs into a "I like 610 more than 790" or the other way around. Well screw it, while I'm here.... I agree with Max, that morning show on 790 is just plain stupid. I don't see how anyone could find that schtick funny. John and Lance are good, but I don't think they're as entertaining as they once were. Matt and Adam have the best show on 610 now, and I wish that someone at the station would wise up and put them on in the afternoon slot. Marc and Rich are completely unlistanable. On the rare occassions they are actually talking sports, I usually get the impression that they have no idea what they are talking about. It's no contest choosing between them and Charlie.
I prefer 610 - John and Lance in the morning and Matt and Adam in the evennings. Marc and Rich suck. I also think Charlie is overrated, his ego is unbelievable. Everyone needs a sidekick to keep them in check. I also don't mind Mike and Mike on 790 when I want a national viewpoint. All lunch hours suck (esp Rome and all his damn chronies (sp) and their takes).
You mean 610 is able to get in some sports talk in between all of those damn advertisements?? It seems like an endless episode of commercials which is why I don't tune into that station anymore..
Yeah, they do seem to have a lot. My favorite was Monday when I was leaving work I heard Vanderdork talking about the wonder that is Time Warner Cable. The very next segment, Rich was talking about the wonder that is satellite and how cable sucked.
This is how my listening session goes daily while at work. 5:00-7:00 Charlie Palilo (definately the best of the bunch) 7:00-10:00 Matt and Adam (very solid and entertaining) 10:00-1:00 JT the Brick (annoying as hell but I haven't gotten into Rick Balou yet) 1:00-3:00 3rd shift Jorge Sedano (can be pretty funny at times) Yes, I listen to too much sports radio.
SHOW ME YOUR LIGHTNING BOLT!!! I actually like Rome. I switch between Mike and Mike and John and Lance in the morning. When I get to work I listen to Cowherd before Rome comes on. In the afternoons, it's all about Charlie. If 790 would just get some better commercials I think I'd have no complaints about their selection.
I usually listen to John and Lance in morning, I switch between Rome and Patrick and then in the afternoon it is all Charlie, then Matt and Adam if I am able to. I listen to too much sports radio.
