Here's my write-up from last night's game. Some good stuff from Battier, I thought. http://blogs.houstonpress.com/ballz/2007/11/rocketsspurs_from_press_row_no.php I'll be posting Daryl Morey's thoughts on the Rockets hot start later this afternoon. Thanks for reading and feel free to offer up comments or critiques, not to mention suggestions for future coverage. And thanks once again to all who chimed in on the Morey feature last week. JCF
Great writeup, and excellent points about the three point shooting and turnovers. The Rockets don't handling pressing defenses very well. That was the case last year, and it continues to be the case. I don't know if its a lack of chemistry (we seem to remake the roster every offseason) or ability to read defenses, but it's something we have to fix. Too often, our offense bogged down when the Spurs turned up the pressure.
EXCELLENT article again!!!! It's a pleasure to have you writing about the Rockets, keep up the great work Jason!
Nothing but net. Guys, if you want to be able to see every game with this kind of accuracy and honesty, you need to switch from [A-Z]OF to RocketsOnlyFan. Go Rox.
Which is surprising coming from the Houston Press. Didn't Richard Connelly always come down on everything about the new stadium and arenas being built? If it were up to him the Rockets wouldn't be here. Good to see some positive spin coming from them for a change. Of course it seems every publication is finding room on the Rockets bandwagon these days.
We handle it well with Rafer on the floor but that's all he can do. He's a role player starting for a potential champ.
That really is a fantastic article and more importantly, I completely agree with Battier's opening quote.. need some time to evaluate the season and teams before the media can go crunching on them. Don't you just love ESPN? They are notorious for flip flopping their opinions nightly based on the specific game. Oh but bow down to Cleveland, Detroit, SA, and Boston. No matter what, they'll generally get good press.
