Instrumental version maybe? I have the old Oilers one on a 45 somewhere... Couldn't tell you where though. Probably one of those boxes that's been packed since around '96 (when I got married).
I had the old 45. I also had: Luv Ya Blue (to the tune of the Beatles Love Me Do) Big Earl (sounded like the theme to the movie Convoy)
i have the mp3 somewhere. i've been looking amidst my old collections and stuff... will obviously post again if/when i find it. it's certainly somewhere.. if I end up leaving in a bit, i'll try again tomorrow
Yeah, but do you have that ode to Ken Stabler, "Snake Bite"? The Snake is level-headed, loose He's lanky, long and lean That left-handed strike is why he's got Such a deadly sting They call him Snake Bite! (Snaaaaaaaaaaaake Bite) He comes from Houston town And, brother, you're right If you think he's the best around And, of course, there's that Kenny Burrough classic "Super Bowl Itch".
Had the Houston Oilers #1 Album (on Vinal) In addition to the aforementioned Houston Oilers #1 Luv Ya Blue and Big Earl it also had Oiler Cannonball ("sung" by Carl Mauck to the tune of Wabash Cannonball) and a torchy ballad called "I'm Sorry, Blue" Also a rewritten version of "Mama's Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys"
Aren't you guys talking about "Big Bad Earl"? I don't ever remember hearing a tune that sounded like convoy.
Oh, man. Talk about memories!! I don't remember Snake Bite. Was it original or a parody of another song? I do remember the Superbowl Itch. It was pretty funky. Fatty, it's been almost 30 years. My memory is a little fuzzy about Big Earl.
Jesus. It took me 1 minute to find this song using Google. Some of you really need to brush up on your internet search skillz.
How about this classic: Dan Pastorini had a ten foot weenie and he showed it to the lady next door She thought it was a snake, and cut it with a rake Now it's only 3 foot 4.
Listening to this again, and hearing the Eagles fight song last Sunday.. the Texans need to come up with something better than the country/rock thing they have playing now (that is too hard to hear, nobody really knows the words, and if they did... the background music drowns it out anyways).
