This Sunday's MLS championship game will add another chapter between two great sports cities. There are many classic battles between Houston's sports teams and L.A.'s sports teams whether it's regular season or playoffs. I always think it's far more better than the I-45 rivalry against Dallas sports teams. Our hometown teams have a history against the teams from the So-Cal area: Rockets-Lakers, Astros-Dodgers, Oilers-L.A. Raiders, Dynamo-Galaxy, Comets-Sparks, UH Cougars-UCLA. Discuss the moments and stories as fans.
In my opinion this started it all, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_of_the_Century_(college_basketball)
The 1980 and 1981 NL West Division Playoffs between the Astros and the Dodgers. The pitching duels between Nolan Ryan and Fernando Valenzuela were great.
This thread hurts me. I was born in Houston but have lived the large majority of my life in Los Angeles. The thought that the two cities I call home foster such an adversarial connection is upsetting to me. Granted, I hate the Lakers and always will.
