I am not a Ming hater / Rockets hater / or Francis hater. just saying this from a very unbiased perspective. Houston is NOT the ideal team for Ming, and is very much detrimental to the growth of this kid. as a rookie, you need playing time. Practises are good, but nothing beats the on court playing time. Houston is already a playoff contender and they already have solid lineups, they don't really need Ming and CANNOT afford to give Ming much playing time ==> and touches.. how many times did Francis / Mobley passed to Ming in the 3 games? let's take a wild shot. two? three? Francis Mobley took 49 shots combined in game one compared to one for Ming. Nothing against them, but Houston Rockets is NO Houston Rockets w/ the greatest center Olajuwon. Now Rockets is a guard-oriented team.. Ming has no place here. Ming would develope much better say if he were to play for Golden States, Chicago, Denver, Cleveland, where he'll get plenty of playing time to grow and nurish. and oh yeah.. team mates who would pass the ball to him.
3 games into the season and this isn't the right place for Ming? It will take time. Most young foriegn rookie don't get a lot of time as a rook. Look at Dirk.
There is no pressure for Yao here. Houston has stars like Steve, and that other guy, and Eddie Griffin. If he was to play in Cleveland, or Golden State, and those scrubs, I am sure there would be some pressure for him to do good. Yao Ming is not the freaking basketball Messiah.
Well, we are not saying Yao performed bad. But, Steve and Cat didn't help him much as expected. It is not a help saying "Yao is a good guy and can play" but refusing to get him involved in the ball movement. Nash would argue with you "no, i pass the ball to Dirk a lot from the very beginning".
you guys know in your heart what I'm saying is true. let's say.. If Ming were to play for the GS warriors, he would get at least 30+ min / game. here in Houston he's getting 10 min/ game. BUT let's say if he were to play for the Lakers w/ Oneal in the lineup, he'll probably get 0 ~5 min /game only. and Houston is a STevie / guards team.... it's really not a ideal team to play for if you're a center. Why was the greatest center Olajuwon forced out of Houston? anyone know why?
ARE U KIDDING???? this is the perfect place for yao, everyone is making him as comfortable as they can, rudy no matter what anyone says is 1 of the top 3 coaches in the league and yao needs to be here all he needs is time to catch his breath ...did u see the moves he did in the game against toranto..let him learn english better... yao will be an allstar without a doubt in my mind but look at dirk nowitzkis first season. i mean the guy wasnt even at 10 a game now look at him.
If Ming played in Golden State he would have to carry the load, and would be criticized for their lack of victories.
I don't think you bothered to realize that Yao has played pretty much year round. If he playede 30+ mins with the Warriors, he wouldn't physically last beyond January.
What the hell does that have to with Yao? You wreak of a troll. Please bother our Spurs and Mavs brethren.
Yes, this is a guard oriented team, so what do we do? Bring in more guards? We definitely don't need Forwards, since we're guard oriented 'n' all. Think before you post man. A post presence like Yao Ming is exactly what a guard oriented team needs. Pressure? You don't think 1 billion fans is enough pressure? How about being the #1 pick? He'll get his minutes once he earns them. That;s how all the greats got their minutes.
If you arte trying to change the present direction of play I am with you 100%! If you are realy meaning what you said then you dont know much about thr Rockets and their #1 pick. I want you to realise, if this is still true by the end of the Season and Rudy T and his players have not made the correct adjustments, then there will be significant accommodation ,to Yao Ming ,in as much as Coaching and Player changes would be forthcoming. By the way this was a bold 1st thread for a person without a birthdate, no town,no job or interests.
This guy is probably from the Bay area and upset at how bad Dunleavy has started. Admit it, it's not that Yao is a bad fit here, it's that you wish your Warriors had gotten him like they were supposed to according to last years record. Anyways, Yao is an asset, why the hell would any team not want him? This place is perfect for Yao. He hasn't even been in America for a month. On other teams, like the GS Warriors, he'd be out there looking foolish as they force him to play without knowing much about the offense. Here, he can take it slow and learn. If it hadn't been for the National team stuff, Ming would have been here for summer league, training camp, and the preseason. That would have helped become a starter right off the bat.
So what should we have done with the number 1 pick? Give it back? Um, Sorry, Mr. Stern, but we have a guard oriented offense that does not utilize the front court. Since front court rookies will not get playing time, and we are set at guard, we respectfully decline the first pick. Thanks anyway. Dude, this is lame. What you are REALLY saying is since you don't get to see Yao play 48 minutes a game, he should be somewhere else so that you CAN see him 48 minutes a game. Plus, why is there no mention of maybe, just maybe, he was drafted for defensive purposes? To shore up that soft belly the Rocks had last year? Troll.
